Any music player, that I've used to play my personal mp3s so far, continues playing after I've closed the app (out of the recent apps list). Spotify still didn't learn that, the only option (very cumbersome and unfriendly) is to start it up on my watch and use the phone as output. When do you plan to implement this?
Perplexity suggested turning off battery optimizations and enabling background data, that didn't help either, the data are enabled by default, and other players play in background even with battery optimizations on.
Galaxy S25, Android 15, OneUI 7.
Hey @DexSK,
Thanks for reaching out and welcome to the Community.
It's expected behavior for the app to stop playing after being closed and there's currently no way to prevent this apart from the workaround you've mentioned.
However, if the playback stops after navigating to a different app or locking your phone even with Spotify being set as an exception in your battery optimization settings, then please let us know so we can take a closer look.
Cheers,
Hello there and thanks for the reply 🙂 so if that's a feature and not a bug, then please if you would, add this to the wishlist for the app 🙂 my other player (AIMP) continues playing "as a service" with only a control panel in the notification area, that would be an ideal setup 🙂
Thanks again.
Hey @DexSK,

Take care,
Just noticed there's one already, posted it myself in Feb 🙂
