Samsung S7, Spotify & BT

I recently changed from a Samsung A5 to a Samsung S7 and am now having issues when I listen to Spotify over BT in my Toyota Yaris (that I did succesfully with the A5 for the last 2 years)

After a period of time the UI on both the phone & the car system locks, displaying a single song title even when playing a new one, though the displayed play time continues to progress. Skipping, pausing or rewind is no longer possible (again via either the car or phone UI), though the playlist continues playing. When this issue occurs,  then when I end the journey and switch off the engine (disconecting BT) the phone continues to play the playlist on its own speaker and I have to manually kill Spotify.

Is this a known issue?

I am using Spotify v6.3.0.882 for ARMV7
