Sleep timer shutting down app

Device

Alcatel, late 2017

Android 7.0 (not sure, but I think this is the right information)

My Question or Issue

Since the last update, everytime I try to turn on the sleep timer it shuts the whole app down. I have updated it, re-installed it, and cleared my cache, and it still shuts down the app and makes me restart it. Any advice on how to fix this?

Hi there folks,

We're happy to inform you that this should be fixed now! Make sure your apps are on the latest version and log out and back in a few times to force a resync. If necessary, perform a clean reinstall as well.

If the issue persists for you, don't hesitate to let us know so we can assist you further.

Cheers!

Hey @Mido_CS, thanks for reaching out to the Community!

With the Sleep Timer, the song will end and will typically just remain on pause when you wake up. More info on how this feature works here. I know you’ve mentioned that you’ve done a reinstall, however, can you try another reinstall following these steps? It’s more thorough than a simple reinstall.

If that still doesn’t work, can you send me a screen recording of this happen with your Sleep Timer enabled and what happens when it reaches that time? You can record right around when Sleep Timer is expected to end. Make sure to hide sensitive info when posting to the Community.

Keep me posted!

Happens to me as well. Older android version restarts or shuts down app immediately on selecting sleep timer. New Android version plays for a few seconds then dies. Started immediately after update.

Full reinstall and clear did nothing.

Hey @LMN118,

Thanks for joining the thread.

I've checked on my end but I couldn't reproduce the issue. Does it make a difference what duration you choose in the sleep timer settings or what podcast you're playing? Also, can you let us know the models, Android versions and Spotify versions of the devices you've tested this on?

I am having similar issue where when I use the sleep timer (except for end of track which works ok) when I select a time for the sleep timer it crashes spotify.

This is on an android tablet and I have tried all the steps above.

I tried this a few times, and it still doesn't seem to work. It shut down almost immediately.
As for screen recording, my phone doesn't have those capabilities, so this was the best I could do (see attached)

Hey @Mido_CS,

Thanks for the video.

We've now forwarded this to our tech team, we'll let you know in this thread once we have any news to share.

In the meantime, make sure to share your current app version as it will help the team with their investigation.
