Spotify Pausing While Driving

Spotify Pausing While Driving

I've seen many other reports of this same exact issue. Spotify continuously paused my music while I am driving! THIS IS DANGEROUS AS MOST OF MY DRIVING IS HIGHWAY!! So moving at 50mph+ and having to unpause my music every few seconds is endangering me and those around me.

I connect to a Bluetooth adapter in my car, and I usually have navigation running, either Google Maps, or Waze, doesn't matter because it happens with both, and I discovered yesterday that even without navigation, IT STILL HAPPENS!

Below are things I've tried:

-cleared cache

-cleared data

-deleted the app, reboot phone, reinstall

-downloaded my drive playlist, so not a mobile data issue

- Disabled Hey Spotify feature (not that it worked anyways)

When this happens, I always have mobile data, but even if I didn't, having the playlist downloaded, it shouldn't matter, yeah?

I am a premium member, and have been for over 8 years, but this BS has me ready to cancel completely. I'm using a Pixel 6, up to date with the latest Android 12 version.  This really needs a resolution, it's dangerous, and to me, no longer worth the hassle when I could probably find a music app that actually works as intended. Please help with any suggestions I've not already mentioned above.

Hi there @cbryan79,

Thank you for taking the time to post in the Community and for sharing your feedback. We're extremely sorry see that you're having this experience. Let's take a closer look into this together.

If you have an SD card we suggest that you uninstall the app > turn off your phone > take out your SD card > turn on the phone again (without the SD card) > reinstall the app since the card can be corrupted.

As a next step we can recommend that you check the phone's battery settings and make sure that Spotify is set as an exception if you're using the battery optimization option.

Let us know how it goes so that we can continue to assist you if you need us to.

Have a great Friday and start of your weekend!

Live, love, laugh and listen to music 🙂

Issue still happening. Connecting to car BT and when pressing play after two seconds it pauses, also no audio whatsoever on car speaker

This is also happening to me. Google pixel 7 pro. Very annoying.

I fixed it. Apparently car speakers aren't like normal Bluetooth speakers.
Once connected to its Bluetooth, if you try playing audio it won't work.
For music/Spotify, if the car has somewhat of a smart hub, try to find a
"Bluetooth Audio" app, then it will be allowed to play music
