Spotify app unresponsive

Hi all,
Why does my spotify app lags or becomes unresponsive whenever I play music? This always happens when a track ends and goes on to the next track or I skip onto the next track. It still continues playing track after track. During this time I cant skip or open the app. My subsription is premium btw. This always happen twice a day and its becoming a nuisance. Help please.

What device and android version are you using? Also is your Spotify app updated?

Have you tried reinstalling and restarting your phone. Let me know if this helps.
