On my lock screen, the Spotify controls no longer appear as a permanent notification while music is playing. They are still present when I expand the notification bar on an unlocked phone, however.
I have tried closing and reopening the app, logging out and in, and also uninstall/reinstall.
All Spotify notifications are enabled in-app and in Android settings both (Settings > Lock Screen > Notifications) and (Settings > Apps > Spotify > Notifications).
Attached image is what I see when I expand the notification bar while music is paused, and what I would expect to see on the lock screen.
I suspect this has something to do with a recent Android update which changed Samsung's "OneUI."
Info:
Samsung Galaxy S20FE 5G
OneUI version 4
Android version 12
Spotify app version 8.7.4.1056

I've been having a lot of troubles wjth this too after updating my Phone (S10 5G) and started going through every possible setting to find out what to do ti fix it. Everything on this current thread had no help so I went back to looking.
I decided to go into the; SETTINGS - APPS - SPOTIFY - NOTIFICATIONS - NOTIFICATION CATEGORIES - PLAYBACK(Turn on this setting)
My playback setting was somehow off, I turned it on, started playing music and then started receiving the controls at the top of my regular notifications bar, and the controls on the lock screen too.
I hope this works for the rest of you. 🙂
I had the same probem, but my notifications were on for Spotify – however, under Notifications > Playback > Lock screen, it showed "Don’t show notifications at all", with no option to edit.
I solved mine by going to
Display > Lock screen > Privacy
and choosing something that wasn't "Don’t show notifications at all" – both other options worked instantly, no restart required.
I don't remember changing this before, so it might have been a privacy thing included in the last update, or maybe I made the change and forgot.
Before my phones update to one ui 6 and android 14 i was able to close the app but still access the player from my notification tray to resume playing after the update the player immediately dissapears upon closing the app causing me to have to re open and keep the app open while playing music does anyone know why?
Facing the same issue this is too much of a hassle hope it is fixed or please write back if u find any fix
Hey folks!
We can see that this thread has been getting a lot of views lately.
The solutions and steps provided here can usually help.
However, in march 2024, we have a trend about a similar issue here. Feel free to have a look there, should the issue persist.

My Question or Issue
I can't get Spotify to show current song/podcast that's playing on my lock screen. It used to but it's stopped, I've looked at all my settings and can't work out what's happening. It's really annoying as I can't skip/pause without unlocking my phone and opening the app.
All the advice I can find about this issue on the community is our of date or for iOS
Does anyone else have this issue/know how to fix? Thanks
Hi there @Rooloo,
Thanks for your post here in the Community and welcome!
First up, make sure the notification settings are on. You can check that from your device's Settings > Apps > Spotify. If everything is in order, then it's best to perform a clean reinstall of the Spotify app. No worries, you won't lose any content, but you might need to download your offline music again.
On another note, do you at least see a Spotify notification without media controls on your lock screen?
We'll keep an eye out for your reply.

My Question or Issue
Ever since a few days ago the entire play/pause etc. controls of spotify are not appearing on the lock screen anymore when playing music. Instead there's just a small text with song title/ artist. It works just fine in the app or from the drop down menu when the phone is unlocked.
I already tried reinstalling the app, cleared app cache, checked my phone settings (notifications/playback/lockscreen settings) and turned everything on and off again but nothing seems to work so far. However it's kinda annoying as I have to keep unlocking my phone even just for pausing a song or podcast.
I'm not sure if this is some setting from the app or my phone but can't seem to figure out why and where it came from.
I attached a screenshot of the home screen when music is playing.
I also have the same issue. Confirmed all settings are
correct and deleted / reinstalled as you suggested. Does not fix the issue.
Seems as if the issue began with your recent app update on 7/12/2024 and/or iOS update to 17.5.1.
Please provide a solution. Thx.
Hey there @scotthondl,
Thanks for getting in touch about this here in the Community!
Would you mind asking a friend or a relative to log in to their account on your iPhone to see if they can replicate this behavior? This will help us determine if the issue is device or account-related.
On another note, would you mind giving a different internet connection a try to see if it shows up?
Additionally, sending us the exact make/model and Spotify version of your iPhone would come in handy.
We'll be on the lookout.
On my pixel 7 pro I went settings > sound & vibration > media > show media on lock screen
Hi, same issue after I switched to my pixel 8a recently. Any solution? Thanks

All Spotify notifications such as downloads and playback are enabled. For example Adgaurd works fine and shows in lockscreen so how come Spotify is having this issue?

My Question or Issue
Missing Spotify Controls in Notification player Issue
The media controls for Spotify are missing from the notification panel (media player section). The controls used to appear correctly, but now they don’t show up for Spotify. Interestingly, other music apps display the controls as expected.
1. Cleared the app data for Spotify.
2. Uninstalled and reinstalled both Spotify and the system UI plugin.
3. Restarted the device multiple times.
4. Verified that other music

My Question or Issue
Spotify player media controls are not available on the phone lock screen. I have allowed all notifications to show on lock screen and also enabled 'Show Media Control On Lock Screen'.
More details in the attached screen shot.
On my pixel 9 pro, raise the volume of your music so you can go into the sound settings. There, you can now click on listening now, mine were all turned off when I bought my phone. Now, I can see it clearly
