Spotify is storing too much data on internal storage

Hi, I want to know why Spotify app for Android (I don't know if the same problem is happening on iOS) is storing a huge amount of data on internal storage without downloading songs. Every time I run the app and play an album or playlists, I can see how the app data size is increasing as if songs were downloading. I've been dealing with this problem since two weeks, I thought it'd fix it but nothing is happen until now. Please does anybody have the same issue or help me?

It caches music to save bandwidth as explained here.

I'm not talking about cache data but app data itself

The cache is iincluded in the app data for spotify.

I'm having the same problem. 2,18 GB of app data (no downloaded albums or music), less than 2 MB of cache.
I need a solution for this! I can't use my phone properly due to lack of available space used up by Spotify app.

Use the option in spotify's settings to store the cache on an external SD card.

I cannot find the the option to save data on external drive.

All the references to how to change that in any of the posts i have read are not correct.  I assume Spotify has changed it for some reason.  Nice one Spotify.  😞

My cache data takes almost 8gb. It will keep growing until sd card memory runs out?
