My Question or Issue
Whenever a bluetooth device is connected to my phone, Spotify automatically starts playing the last song it was paused on if my phone makes any "noise". If I recieve a Messanger message, it starts playing as soon as the "bing" sound is over. It starts playing automatically after I've hung up a call, etc.
I've disabled auto play, I've reinstalled the app and cleared cache.
Under "car view", both "Turn on automatically" and "Always on" is disabled.
I'm unsure what more I can do.

This reply is garbage. Everyone tries to reinstall and it fixes nothing. Spotify will take over and there is nothing we can do to stop it. Stop treating customers like idiots and fix your app
Such**bleep** response. Firmware? Really? We know your company is trying to force us to use Spotify. Just utter nonsense.
April 2025 and still going. Please fix or provide a clear reason this isn't possible on Android, so we can bug the right person.
On my Google 9 home page, hold finger on Spotify app until drop down menu appears, click "Pause Spotify".
Having almost the same issue:
Can any of the mods acknowledge the problem exist and engage the eng team please?
The topic is marked as SOLVED although we all know that it is not.
I have the same problem with my S21 Samsung.
Whenever I finish a call with my earbuds and I put them back in their case, the spotify starts to play from my phone's speaker. This is quite annoying and stressful when Im in Office, as everybody turn to see from where this loud music is coming.
I have found some interesting tips for this problem and I think they work:

Hope it will be helpful...
Since this is obviously a very annoying problem for a significant number of users (myself included), you might also want to look into trying to fix it on your end too, or at least say you're going to take it up with the appropriate internal department at Spotify, instead of giving a PC blow off answer here.
Bonjour,
A chaque fois que je rentre dans mon véhicule, spotify se lance automatiquement.
Et impossible de trouver le paramètre pour l empêcher.
J'ai tout essayé, mais je ne trouve pas.
Un peu d aide serait la bienvenue.
Merci
Just checking in on if this will be resolved any time soon... 2025 and all
I have this issue even without using a Sonos speaker. This will happen occasionally when I connect to my Bluetooth audio system in my car or when I just open the app.
Good Afternoon,
Is there a fix for this yet?
I put my kid to sleep playing soothing music from Sonos speaker in their room. Connecting my BT headphones to my phone causes the music to stop playing on the Sonos speaker and instead play in my ears. I don't want that behavior, I want you to stay the way I set you. It is particularly annoying when I am doing chores and walk out of range for just a moment. Then I get to fumble with the music, tuck my kid in again, then restart my media playing before getting back to my chore. I curse your name every time it happens. Why would you start playing music on a device other than where I decided? You are making the experience of your app unbearable. Lets imaging I am hosting a party, playing music, then I want to make a call and put in my headphones, because of your overzealous behavior now I have to fix the music before making the call. Can you please hire someone with a little more experience and reservation to lead your features team. This feature was a waste of your time and mine.
this "solution" is unacceptable. The problem is with Spotify, not "other vendors". Total BS.
I performed the following steps while Spotify was playing incessantly in my earbuds unprovoked. Phone settings>Security and Privacy>Privacy/Privacy controls (Review access will full device access)>Permission manager>Music and Audio>Spotify>Under "Music and Audio access for this app," I deselected "Allow" by selecting "Don't Allow" and the music immediately stopped and the app disappeared from my notifications screen. Ahhh...sweet silence...
I suggest you make an easy password and just logout of spotify everytime your done using it.
This has been happening to me as well, on iOS and there are dozens or hundreds of others with this issue. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE escalate this auto-playing car feature. It's a dangerous driving hazard!! When someone has an accident and SUES SPOTIFY then you'll fix it???
I'm on Android, and I think that if you swipe the lock-screen Spotify widget off (the side of the lock screen) it won't restart. I have a feeling that it has something to do with Spotify being "available" on the lock screen.
I had done many of the same things, including doing a force-quit, and somehow, the app restarted automatically.
