Stopping Music/Clear Now Playing

My Question or Issue

How do I fully stop a song that is playing? To be explicitly clear on my question, by "fully stop a song" I mean the following:

-Cease playback of the song.

-Remove the song from the current "Now Playing" queue

-Clear and/or refresh the cache of the Now Playing section so that it no longer displays a song.

Please, for the sake of simplicity, and to avoid me coming off as condescending, take this question as virtually identical to the difference between pausing and stopping a CD.
