I also re-installed the app (for this and another reason as well). Approximately 30min of uninterrupted listening over Bluetooth now. Let's hope this will be the end of this problem.
Regarding loosing songs when unistalli - are you afraid of loosing the offline music you have downloaded or loosing all playlists you have created on your account? The playlists will remain in your account even though you uninstall the app, so no worries about that. I completely removed all data related to the application from the device when I uninstalled to get a completely clean install (because of the other issue I had). After installing again I just downloaded my offline playlist(s) again.
I have the same issue since a few days.
Deleted the app, reinstalled it. Same problem.
Samsung Galaxy GT-I9506

Version 4.1.0.868
The bugs still here.... sorry guys I was really happy yesterday and just now Spotify stop playing like before, then, just to try, I unpluged my headphones and it still playing my song for all my colleagues........
I hope they will fix it quickly because I think we are all paying for that and it's quite expensive if now we have bugs like that...
Have the same problem since some versions, running on a Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 with Android 5.0.2 it was no problem before. It stops randomly. Have uninstalled the app and reinstalled, no change! I will not pay for a service which don't work!
Have the same issue, it's annoying
Just to let you know, might work for you as well. I wiped the cache partition on my phone (in recovery mode). Spotify seems to work properly now.
Just to add another name to the list. Same problem, incredibly annoying.
After the latest update of my Spotify App, it started happening. 2 or 3 songs will play, after that - a song just stops. I have to go into Spotify and restart the song, but the song displayed in the App is not necessarily the song that was playing. It seems that this tends to happen when my Smartphone goes into Battery Saving mode, which is about 5 minutes after I switch off the screen. Also, the music does not stop playing when I receive a phonecall.
The previous installation of the Spotify App worked absolutely glitch-free, so it seems the latest update has brought on this bug. Please fix it ASAP, or I will move to another music service that does not require me to restart a song every 6-8 minutes!!

Starting to suffur from this bug today...
It's just make the app useless, hope you guys could solve it soon...
Hey, I had this problem, I solved it yesterday by downloading the latest beta version.
https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/spotify-ltd/spotify/spotify-4-2-0-705-beta-android-apk-download/
Just download the APK and install it. It will install as an update over you current version.
I am uncertain of weather I will still get automatic updates with the beta version, if not you can check in the play store every now and then for a release version. (Should be version 4.2.x).
It's up to you to decide if you think the download it safe or not. I have downloaded it and apkmirror is known to host genuine apk files.
Would be nice if a developer could confirm it's safe, just to reassure people.
If you are worried, take some time to google about apkmirror and reassure yourself, or just wait for the release version and your automatic update.
I hope this helps you.
I have this problem occasionally on my OnePlus One, along with an annoying bug which causes the Spotify logo to disappear from my status bar. This means I can't access the playback controls from the lockscreen and have to navigate to the app itself. Please address this in your next update.
Welcome to the new Spotify.
Ignore the suggestions to reinstall. That does not work, you will justify end up wasting time redownloading your music.
Best advice is to cancel your subscription, leave lousy feedback on Google App Store, and subscribe to a music service run by competent people who understand what customer service means.
You don't have to redownload your music because you reinstall.
The only time you have to redownload your music is if you clear all app data, unless they changed this in the past year.
Updating to the latest beta has worked for 3 days so far. Updating doesn't require reinstallation anyway.
One more with the same problem. Started happening a few days, maybe a week ago.
Suddenly spotify stops playing, after somewhere around 5-10 minutes.
