My Question or Issue
The time bar does not work properly, the music is playing but has no time or time progress. On my car, the infotainment does not recognise that is play something, this was not an problem on the anterior version. The issue appeared at the same time with the new updates.
It was fixed for a few hours, it's back to the same state. Happening again
if it's still relevant: as long as you do not play songs from the search (means: play music only from your liked songs and your playlists), everything will be okay. if it happens again, just shut spotify down and start it again after few minutes. S23 Ultra, idk will it work on other devices
I have the same issue, Sony Xperia 10v
Same issue occurring. Have tried all the suggested steps to rectify this but to no avail. The Spotify help person suggested I add to the help forum.
This occurs on Samsung A40 (Android 11), Spotify app version 8.9.20.574 (updated yesterday, no new updates available at time of writing).
I'm experiencing the same issue, with the same version of Android and Spotify mentioned above, on Motorola G8 Power.
Having the same issue. for me this happens when i play a song that is not downloaded
Changing the permissions for running in the background makes no difference. I have given Spotify all permissions including allowing running in background in the battery options. This has nothing to do with bluetooth, as this happens when listening from the phone directly.
Yeah I have tested out on downloaded ones and as you've said, it works fine. But if it is not downloaded, the issue continues
Same on S23 Ultra, premium plan. The time bar works for downloaded music content only. You can also test that out
I'm having a similar issue. Do you have Spotify open anywhere else (PC, PlayStation etc.) at the same time?
im having a similar issue on pixel 7, only that the album cover is also always extremely blurry and low resolution for some reason, and when the duration bar and album cover do actually work correctly from time to time it doesnt even show the right song
The time bar is more persistent, but I have sometimes problems with the covers and name of the song. I get stuck to a song a never change
No, just on my phone. Very rarely I use Spotify on my pc.

My Question or Issue
for the last couple days ive been having this seriously annoying issue where the playback notification is either completely inaccurate or just plain doesnt work, and im really hoping it gets fixed sooner rather than later
the main big issue for me is that duration bar is stuck at zero and im unable to skip through the song from my notifications, so im forced to open the app to skip forwards or backwards in the song. (and the album cover in the playback notification also tends to be in a weirdly low resolution in this case, but my other local files player has this issue too so this might be an issue on my end)
however, there are occasionally times where the duration bar is functioning as intended... at a cost. for whatever reason, whenever the duration bar is working its always showing the wrong song entirely, and no amount of skipping or jumping between songs remedies this
ive tried turning off notifications for the app and turning them back on again as a last ditch effort, both from the app itself and in my phones settings, but to no avail. i would try reinstalling the app, but for fear of having to redownload albums and playlists and re-hide certain album tracks i havent gone that far (which is another big issue i have with the app, but thats besides the point)
can ye fix this soon? like i said, ive only started having this issue recently, but its already seriously getting on my nerves
Yes me too, this and the lock screen song preview that is missing since yesterday
Hi there folks,
Thanks for reaching out to the Community about this and for all the info you've shared.
We can see some users are no longer facing the situation, so if you're still experiencing it, make sure both your OS and Spotify are up-to-date. If the issue persists, and you haven't, send over the exact make, model, and OS version of the device and the Spotify version you're running.
We'll be on the lookout!
Hey! I'm still experiencing this on Google Pixel 6a running Android 14 and Spotify 8.9.20.574
S23 Ultra, android 14 and spotify 8.9.20.574, still doesn't work
