My Question or Issue
This is weird (I think): Android Auto voice commands work with waze and google maps just fine, and voice commands work well with Spotify when I'm using just my phone with google assistant. But when I try to use voice commands with Spotify through Android Auto, I get a "I can't help you with that" type of message.
Is this a known issue? Am I doing something wrong? I'd appreciate any help on the subject.
Thanks!
Same here!
Pixel XL on Oreo. I assumed it was an Oreo problem but looking at the rest of you it seems to be more wide spread. Tried all the obvious stuff uninstalling etc etc etc. Getting same responses as everyone else. 'can't help you with that' or 'can't display search results in car'. Worked fine since we got the car 8 months ago.
Please fix!
Same problem here. Wasted ages this evening trying to resolve this. Rolled both AA and Spotify back to July versions and it still doesn't work. GET THIS FIXED ASAP!!!
GA team is looking into it:
Hey guys,
I tested it again this morning and it worked for me - so hopefully that is it sorted!!
Looks like this issue only exists when requests are made via Bluetooth. Seems to work fine without Bluetooth.
Yeah same here. Really strange. Just started working a few weeks ago. But still have an issue with sometimes getting "okay, playing music" and then nothing. When I switch to the Spotify screen there's an error message. It does this with some tracks or playlists, always seems to happen when requesting Google Assistant to play the Greatest showman soundtrack for my kids. The other weird thing is that I've been getting Christmas music when requesting certain artists or groups.
In you Spotify app settings change "Device Broadcast Status" to "Allow other apps on your device to see what you are listening to". When I changed that I was able to use Android Auto to control Spotify. Using voice commands I can play an album, a track, an artist -- but I cannot find a way to play my custom playlists.
