A couple days ago, I noticed some really cool feature updates on the mobile application, at least on Androids. A few came at a time.
When I went to my "Liked Songs" section, I saw that the search bar is now like on other playlists. When a search bar was added to it, originally, I didn't het why it wasn't made the same as the other playlist search bars. It's nice to not have to go to the options, to get to it.
I noticed a button that didn't quite recognize, so I tapped it. It led me a "Recently Played" section. This is something that I think was available, years ago, but it was on the homepage, I believe, and it was very limited. I went back, a whole month and a half, and I could've kept going. I was hoping to go back, to find someone songs that I had missed saving, from my "Discovery Weekly" playlist. Now, I can.
I already knew that Spotify allowed local files to be played on your own device, but they had to be added and downloaded on the same WI-FI network. What is new to me is a setting that takes audio files from your device, and it uploads them into your local files section/playlist. I had noticed a little ringtone that I made from recording a piece of a song was in there. That's pretty cool.
I have been trying to get the group session invitations bumped up to a way higher number than a total of 5, with my idea. That hasn't happened, but it did get expanded to an additional 2 people. For some reason, it hasn't changed on my end. What has, though, is a feature that allows you to invite others to play music on your speakers or other devices that you're playing Spotify on. This seems to work outside of a group session, as we've previously known it, even though it's basically the same thing. People can join that are in your WI-FI network, but they can also join, even if they aren't, through a Q.R. code or link. Unfortunately, the Spotify code that was used to invite people to the previous version of the group session is no longer available, at least right now. A concern that I have is that a group session might be disrupted, if you're playing music on your smart speaker, for instance, then switch to your phone, or the other way around. This is because these features, though basically the same, are still separate.
