Lag when switching back to Spotify

lately, whenever I switch back to Spotify from other apps it takes 5 seconds or so to allow me to do anything. 

It wasn't doing it before. It is most annoying and less than I would need to cancel my sub. If feels like it's confirming my account and my sub every time I switch back or something. 

I don't like it and my May subscription will be cancelled if it continues.
