My Spotify shut down this morning with the notification that i had used my 10 hours per month .
has any one else experienced this. ??
I cant find it anywhere, that such a limitation is applied to the Free account.

I don´t want to jump into the typical "hey, I suddenly only have 10h per months", as I know that this is the limitation after using for six months the free account, however I just downloaded spotify two or three days ago and did receive that message, which, well, makes me curious^^
Would be nice to receive help, as I am quite pleased with the functions.

As stated, I had the exactly same problem, I don't have a Spotify account for 6 months and I am having the same 10h month! I think this rule is so bad for the program, that besides I am loving the program this 10h just don't let me have the experience to know if it is worth to pay for Premium... It is just making me lose the interest in the program...
Are you using Facebook to log in? If you are, you may have clicked a Spotify link on Facebook earlier, which gives your facebook info for Spotify. That would mean the six months started counting down from there.
If you created a separate Spotify account just recently, you've run into a problem and spotify support has to fix it.
i have not been using spotify for 6 months, actually since january but in month 1 it was limited to 10 hours but not with the week level, then in month 2 everything was normal and now again it is giving me a limit but not with the weekly limt....

Do you log in using Facebook? If so, have a read at Stupify's post above which might hint to why you are getting the limits already.

i have had my spotify account for a while now even after the 6 months propation period if you like, but my wife has the same problem having the 10 hours limit is there a reason?

Is she logging in using Facebook? If she is, it's likely that the account was made a long time ago by clicking a shared Spotify song link on Facebook. Doing that automatically gives your facebook account details to Spotify.
she has only used it since she had a new laptop but i didn't think it was a problem as the program request either a facebook or her login.

Spotify free accounts which have been registered for 6 months or more are subject to extra restrictions:
- Maximum streaming time of 10 hours per month (allocated as a maximum of 2.5 hours per week, meaning you never need to wait more than 7 days to listen again!).
- In France, a maximum track play count of 5 plays.
You can read more about free account restrictions in your country here. You can see how much time you have remaining when you have less than 60 minutes of playtime left in the top right of the desktop client.
These restrictions only apply to free subscribers, so an upgrade to Spotify unlimited or premium will remove these.
Are you not getting 2.5 hours a week?

Just had the message that I've used up 10 of 10 hours in one month
This is not the case, as I've not even used Spotify for about 3 months and this week have listened to about 10 minutes worth! I've been an account holder for over 6 months, fair enough, but haven't had the useage you claim!

Hi. Peter's post, immediately above yours explains that the 10 hours is allocated as 2.5 hours a week.
Yup, saw that, but as I mentioned, literally not been on for more than 10 minutes this week!
(and I don't leave the application open either - always close completely as soon as I have finished)
Sorry, I missed the 10 minutes part. Maybe someone else can throw some light on this 🙂
Is it possible someone else is using your account?
The system is automated so you should get 2.5 hours each week renewing on whichever day your account was created..

As I say, don't really use Spotify a huge amount so no way is this a problem for me, just intrigued more than anything else!

Has your account be registered for more than 6 months?
These restrictions only apply to Spotify free accounts which have been registered for more than 6 months outside of the US and Asia.

i only get 1 hour per month!!!!!!!!! i have been a premium customer but sometimes dont make my payment on time and th 10 hour per month limit is bollocks i only get 1 hour now i am horrified but i will still continue to try and pay the 10 pound because it is definitely worth it on my mobile etc
