My Spotify shut down this morning with the notification that i had used my 10 hours per month .
has any one else experienced this. ??
I cant find it anywhere, that such a limitation is applied to the Free account.
Solved! Go to Solution.
Hi pottery! The 10 hrs per month limit is divided into 2.5 hours per week. The day that resets depends on the day you joined Spotify.
If you're having trouble with anything else please let us know--thanks!
ok awesome thanks for letting me in on that secret haha nobody reads ts and cs!
Hi! My spotify has shown the 10 hour limit bar for over a month now, but sometimes it's still possible to listen to my music. What should i do? I've tried logging in and out a couple of times.
I've just turned my spotify on after not using it or at least 2 weeks (and during last use I've listened to max 10 songs - before that I haven't used my spotify for another 2 weeks or so) and after listening to 4 songs from my local files it's showing that I used my 10 hours. How did that happen? I live alone, no one uses my account...

Have you tried logging out and back in again or a clean reinstallation of the client?
Local file playback doesn't count towards your play time limit, so if you where only listening to local files you should be able to continue to do so.

i've had mine two days and it says I am at the ten hour limit (it said it when I hadn't even had spotify for 10 hours!) when I believed we had 6 months unlimited?
Hi, I've been having trouble with this for the last couple of months. I listen for maybe 10 or 15 minutes and the next day I'm told my 10 hour limit is up so I wait a few days and then the whole process repeats.
I've tried changing my password, any other ideas?
Hi backni - You should be getting 2.5 hours of listening per week--the day it resets depends on the day you joined though.
Does anyone else have access to your account details?
Not as far as I know - also I changed my password and the problem continued.
Update: I closed down spotify and re-opened and hey presto - I'm not massively confident that it's 'problem solved' as I've tried that before but at least it's working for now.......
Glad to hear it backini, let us know if it keeps giving you trouble.
Been using my local files only in the spotify client. Only local files but now I also get the 10 hour message
Tell me? Is someone who only plays local files AND is shown adds therefore using 0 streaming not the perfect customer for you? I would start a new account but having spent years building up my playlists and starred stuff It's too much of a nut ache so i'll probably just remove it and use google music instead
Shame - but that's just too sneaky even for me to take

One of my friends listens to local files all the time once his limit runs out so the local files shouldn't be effecting it!

It's working now not sure why it stopped. I will go back to premium when I need to I just don't right now.
"- Maximum streaming time of 10 hours per month (allocated as a maximum of 2.5 hours per week, meaning you never need to wait more than 7 days to listen again!)."
It doesn't work for me, I have to wait a whole month to listen again 😕 Please help!
Hey, I have been having problems with my free spotify account.
I must have 2.5 hours of play per week, but whenever I open my spotify (it has been over 2 months now), it says my limit is full although I have NEVER listened to music from spotify for 2 months.
I have tried a clean re-install. Reboot and so on. Logging in/out. Nothing worked.
Please help me.
My spotify name is polen.erc
Thanks
@polenerc - Does streaming from the web player give you the same issue?

yes, I am still getting the same message from the web player as well.
I really hate spotify now.
I would suggest you get in touch with the customer services team directly using the online contact form and they can look into this in a little more detail for you.
If you get an automated email reply back directing you to the community or help pages, you need to reply directly to that email (even if its from no-reply) and one of the customer services agents will get back to you as soon as possible.
Alternatively, if you prefer support via Twitter, please tweet @SpotifyCares.

Hi Community,
Is this "10 hours limit monthly" still a rulle of Spotify free account?

What country are you listening from? The limit has been removed from almost all regions, though there's still a few I'm unsure of.
