Bug report: wrong dates for countless albums

Bug report: wrong dates for countless albums

For some reason, a whole bunch of albums I'm looking at have the wrong release date, and it's always the same date -- 30 Nov of the year prior to the actual release of the album. At a minimum there are hundreds of albums that have incorrect release dates, possibly many more. Clearly it's a bug because the wrong date is always the same, 30 November.

Am I reporting this in the right place?

Hi there @Bhairava11,

Thanks for reaching out. We'll be glad to look into this and get the metadata in order.

We haven't seen anything like this, so let's try and narrow down the possible root cause. Do you see the same release date across all devices? Could you ask other people around you to check if they see the same release dates? If the issue is only on one device, then consider performing a clean reinstall on it, as it's likely some damaged cache is causing the discrepancy.

If both you and other people see the same incorrect dates everywhere, then something must really be up with the albums themselves. If that's the case, send us some screenshots of what you see, as well as the links or URIs of some affected albums so we can check on our end and investigate further.

Let us know how it goes.

I have noticed the same thing. Perhaps an automated date for when the actual release date is unknown? (Note that a lot of the albums i found were released in the 70s).

I have linked a playlist i made containing some examples i came across in my own library. I didnt check if they were wrong but considering the amount of albums...

Hey there @Jann1458,

Thanks for sharing the playlist with us.

We couldn't replicate the aforementioned behavior. So, as mentioned by @Joan above, it'd be awesome if you could check:

  • Do you see the same release date across all devices? If this is happening on just one device, we'd recommend performing a clean reinstall of the app there, so you can make sure the stored cache is not leading to this behavior.
  • Could you ask other people around you to check if they see the same release dates?
  • Send us a couple of screenshots of what you see on your side.

Note: Be aware this is a public space, so please don't share any personal info on the screenshot you'll send us.

Keep us in the loop!

I have this same issue.

Hello, just wanted to add some details.

This bug only shows up on the mobile app, and only for releases that don’t have a specific day and month listed.

It started happening after the update that added the day and month under the album cover

release

For example, here’s the release from 1993, but because of the bug it shows up as 30 Nov 1992

Also, after that same update, the localization broke — the Album / Single / Compilation is always in English now, even though the app language is set to Russian

These bugs have been around for over half a year

Thanks for the provided details folks.

It's worth mentioning that the albums release date info is supplied by the artist/distributor and we advise that you report any errors to the Content team by following the steps in this article. They will take a further look.

@Yaroslavoo, when it comes to your issue that the Album, Single and Compilation sections remain in English, despite your app's language being Russian, it's worth performing a clean reinstall with the steps here (it includes clearing the cache that can cause different issues when it's corrupted). Also, consider changing the language to English for example and switching back to Russian for a refresh. Hope this helps.

If there's anything else we can assist you folks with, don't hesitate to let us know.
