My Question or Issue

Hi. I am a Spotify premium a/c user and I am also a Director at the music venue The Trades Club in Hebden Bridge.

Our Trades Club gigs are not appearing whenever a Spotify user goes to Search>Live Events. They are also not appearing in Spotify live event emails. We've had multiple reports of this from our customers. Can someone pls investigate? Or let me know how I can initiate an investigation?

I have checked my Live Event location settings - and asked others reporting these issues to do likewise - and they are set fine to 'Hebden Bridge' (or a town nearby).

Our Trades Club events are loaded fine into the Spotify integration partners, Bandsintown and Songkick.

Our events ARE appearing ok on individual artist pages in Spotify. So, for example, if I go to Edwyn Collins artists page and start playing a song I see (in the right hand column - desktop view) and 'On tour' section and the his next gig is showing fine as 'Hebden Bridge - Trades Club - Thu 25th Sept'. So they're in the system.

But our gigs are not showing in the Live Events section of Spotify.

Our full list of upcoming gigs can be seen on Bandsintown at - https://www.bandsintown.com/v/10001954-trades-club

Or on Songkick at - https://www.songkick.com/venues/34669-trades-club-hebden-bridge

Hi there @dessie360,

Thanks for reaching out and welcome to the Spotify Community!

I've tested this out on my end and can confirm that the Edwyn Collins gig does appear in Live Events when you narrow down the date range to be more specific as seen on the screenshot:

We would advise the users to filter a smaller time period as well for better recommendations nearby, since they are automatic and are based on location and affinity data so our system will be able to better detect them.

When it comes to the concert recommendation emails, the information there doesn't cover all the concerts in the area, since in some areas like the one you mentioned there is a lot going on and it's not possible for all the gigs to be included. Your feedback on this is important, thanks for sharing it here - we appreciate it.

Thanks so much for looking into this for us!

So yes, I can see that, with some tight, date-specific fiddling, I can get the Edwyn Collins gig to show in the results. However, I have tried a few more without any luck. Eg, tomorrow (25th August) we have Throwing Muses. A pretty big indie band. If I select Hebden Bridge and the 25th Aug (only) it still doesn't show our Throwing Muses gig in the results - but does show lots of quite minor gigs further away, in Bury, Derby, then Nottingham then London... So that seems really odd as a user experience.

I wonder, is this because Hebden Bridge is such a small place and huge weighting is given to city-based gigs in the Spotify search results?

With our Songkick listings they eventually categorised The Trades Club as 'Manchester' since that's our nearest city - and not far from Hebden. Would a similar solution be best for us with Spotify / Bandsintown, do you think??

Again, I really appreciate your time and effort in looking into this. We've had the issue raised so many times by our customers it would be ovely to see it fixed and working as expected.

Looking forward to hearing from you! Cheers.  🙂

Hey again @dessie360,

Thank you for the quick response!

I had a look and on the artist page of Throwing Muses, in the Events tab, the one for today - August 25th doesn't appear so this may be the reason why it's also not showing in the Live Events section via the Search page, even after filtering to the correct date.

Unfortunately, we can't say exactly why this is happening. A possibility is that there's a mismatch with the upload of the event itself, or that there's an issue on our ticketing partners' end, but we can't say for sure what's the cause.

With this said, for further details and assistance you can reach out to our colleagues from the Artist team here. They would probably be able to give you some insight on what the artists need to do to get the club to show.

We appreciate all of the information that you've shared and if there's anything else, the Community's just a post away 🙂
