Multiple artists with same name

Solved!

Multiple artists with same name

I'm not sure whether I should see this as a bug, feature, or something else. Although I have found great music this way, it kinda annoys me when Spotify lists music from multiple artists with the same name as music from one and the same artist.

Examples:

Julian Angel - For a Ghost: French singer/songwriter

Julian Angel - Choreography sucks: German rock ... thing

Everest - On a Approach: American indie alt-country band

Everest - Velocell: Swiss electronic ambient duo

So, Sportify, is it possible to list these artists as separate artists instead of making it seem they're one and the same?

How hard could it be to fix this?

Identical problem exists with the artist name ANTAEUS

There is the Chill Electronica artist Alexx Antaeus https://soundcloud.com/alexx_antaeus , as well as the French Death Metal band. Totally different genres of music.

Can't believe this isn't fixed yet!!!! THREE YEARS AND RUNNING!!!!

I love spotify but their reluctance to address glaring deficiencies like this (and the **bleep** song limit issue) is really bewildering!

Heres another one

Norman Blake- Bluegrass Guitarist

Norman Blake- Solo artist formerly of Teenage Fanclub

Hey, I got one wrong match too.

I was surprised to see a new album "Life" on ATB artist page (progressive house/trance) which turned out to be some soul/R&B stuff.

Another rather important problem ignored by ignorant developers, what a surprise.

My band Event Horizon just released an EP called A Study In Change and the artist page is a mess of various different releases. How can this still be a problem?

Yes I know, I've posted this in the wrong place by accident.

Still not fixed after FOUR YEARS?

There are at least two artists who show up as Redshift - one is Berlin School electronic music, the other some kind of dance music - clearly not the same artists!

Please sort this nonsense out ASAP!

I have the same problem 2 different artists with the same name merged together.

Satellites

and this

This should be fixed ASAP. Imagine that this affects also the "learning" algorithms. For example. You are listering to Satellites band from Romania (Alternative-Rock) here is more of their songs in the discover weekly... oh wait... this band is from Spain and some of their albums are in Spanish.

Same problem for years now. The albums of my punk rock band, **bleep** ROOM, are lumped together with singles by a Brazilian DJ of the same name, **bleep** Room. It would be pretty neat if someone at Spotify actually did something about it because it's not very cool for the fans. It would be super sweet if I could actually contact a human being at Spotify. Every time I send an email, it's redirected back to me, telling me to look in the user forums for an answer. When did this thread start, like 2012? I'll be holding my breath...

Same problem here too!! Completely two very different genre and language:
Artist page: https://play.spotify.com/artist/2XNwtpu314ZSFziTt0ZqZT

First artist: https://play.spotify.com/album/0r4nVUSJz1MUhHrSj2B7Um

Second artist: https://play.spotify.com/album/20thISNp1vrebUhdzTsn4s

The band Solace seem to be mixed up with another of the same name also.

There is a rock band 'Crown of Thorns' mixed up with a Christian band of the same name.

And another - IQ: https://open.spotify.com/artist/0DQ9JcIWMGVzlQSfCVK4oN. Both the British prog band I was looking for, a rapper, and some world music artists. I have very wide tastes in music, which is part of why I like streaming services, but it would be nice for Spotify to put a little effort into fixing the database.

Others have suggested simple solutions - a tabbed interface with a tab for each artist of the same name would be ideal. It just takes a unique database identifier for each artist of the same name, which the user doesn't need to see. This is a problem on other streaming services as well, but there should be an easy way for users to report, and a well-defined response from the provider. At the very least, there should be some indication that someone is paying attention.

I am an artist on Spotify with the name Eric Best, playing a reggae folk fusion thing and then there's a rapper with the same name dropping N bombs every other word. It's a conflict of interest really... Spotify needs to figure it out. It's streaming 101.

I need to separate the material of my band "Andaluz" from another band that has the same name.

My band has two EPs and two singles in Spotify: "Passos Traquilos", "Troque uma peça de lugar", "Ser feliz e nada mais" e "Caminhos do Sol".

This is the link of the EP that is not from my band: https://open.spotify.com/album/4SRSUMGXgf7nULNjeT7BXx

What about the flip side of this issue: one artist listed under multiple names? For example, Quatre Etoiles du Zaire, 4 Etoiles, 4 Stars, Quatre Etoiles, and Les quatre etoiles -- all one band.

How is this a solution to the problem, and why has it been marked as such?

It definitely isn't meant to be a solution. It's a different problem that I thought was similar enough that it fit this thread.
