Shuffle is not random.

Shuffle is not random.

I will not try to post my long text the third time since my posting always gets removed instantly and i dont know why. This is mostly a test if i can post something at all.

I collected some Evidence showing that shuffle is not even remotely random. It seems to only shuffle the first few songs and i can show that.

If this post works maybe ill try to post my evidence again.

Evidence:

- Playlist with 151 Songs

- I can view 12 of those songs in the queue-window (look at the screenshots)

- in a perfectly random world i should have a chance of 12/151=8% of one specific song appearing in my view

Methodical approach:

- I shuffled the playlist 10 times and screenshotted my view with the 12 first entrys in the queue (first three shuffles are attached)

- I track the position of a random song, eg. The Distance from Cake

Observation:

Note: The Distance is within the first 12 entries EVERY TIME. It should be there in just 8% of cases.

This is not random and even less enjoyable to listen to. Every time i start a playlist on shuffle, i get roughly the same songs. Every kind of Playback seems to be affected by this on all devices i have.

Please fix it, it is ruining the shuffle play.

Kind Regards 🙂

Hi @Grillkeese,

Thanks for reaching out about this in the Community and providing screenshots and detailed info about the troubleshooting you've done!

Could you let us know if you see this behavior only on certain playlists or on every playlist, both created by you and from Spotify?

Also, can you tell us if shuffle behaves this way on all your devices?

We'll be on the lookout for your reply.
