"Couldn't load the lyrics for this song" error

As of version 8.8.20.544 and the version prior to that has caused the lyrics from my personal playlist in my device 'Samsung-SMJ250F' to disappear, at first I thought it was brcause the songs were old but way older songs still had lyrics
The playlist is a private playlist featuring all songs of 'DragonForce'
and after the update none of the songs had lyrics.

I love listening to Taylor Swift, but all the lyrics are gone, like many of the rest of you. I would love to have them back. I updated Spotify today, and the lyrics were gone. Then, they were back on the same song where they had been gone. When it went to the next song, they were gone again.

i listen to music 24/7, always listening to new music and wanting to learn the lyrics. so you can see why it is highly irritating when MOST songs say “couldn't load the lyrics for this song”. i’ve uninstalled the app, i’ve logged out, i’ve deleted downloads, i’ve cleared the cache, i’ve even made more storage available on my phone in case it wasn’t a spotify issue. news flash it is. i genuinely miss being able to see lyrics for every single song (except for the songs that never had lyrics to begin with which is understandable bc there’s loads of songs & less popular artists). i once cleared the cache and logged out and it worked for two songs and went right back to the couldn’t load **bleep**. and when it shows the “couldn’t load lyrics for this song” i KNOW the lyrics were there for that song before this started happening. also it’s not every single song, sometimes it’s selective but it is usually almost every single song and this never ever happened to me before the new updates had started. i don’t mean to sound rude but this has been going on for awhile and it’s just annoying. it would definitely be highly appreciated if spotify could fix this issue.

This problem is the same on pc and phone i tried reinstalling it didint work but one time an admin gave me another account and the lyrics worked ,i tried creating another account and it didint work help

Hello, the lyrics are normally still available.

Do you have an example of songs where the lyrics were there for you and are no longer there?
Does this affect all songs or only certain songs?
Do you have Spotify premium?

For me what’s happened on mobile lately is that for some songs the little tab at bottom of player that usually contains Lyrics now contains Artist Info, and there is no way to access the lyrics at all. You’d think View Lyrics would be a menu option after tapping 3-dot button in upper right corner of player window, but nope. Lyrics are entirely unavailable if that little tab at bottom of player window contains artist info instead of lyrics. Very annoying & very easy to fix, but will it ever be?

I have used Spotify in my car android screen for a year, lyrics appeared perfectly, however since a month ago they disappeared for all my playlist.I tried everything I sign out and also delete the app ,I even restart the hole device.

Hey guys! I am a musixmatch curator (aka a curator that gets paid to write the lyrics that get synched to spotify). Many lyrics are removed for various reasons… but the “not loading” error isn’t fully faulted on musixmatch. Some songs you are talking about, such as Eminem’s are removed, not for profanity, but usually for licenses, deals, etc. Or, the artist or their label hid them manually. As for the not loading issue, I suggest updating your app, or logging in/out again. You can also try restarting your phone or internet connection.

This is actually not normal, you should have the lyrics.
This may be a specific modification to cars with the intention of not displaying them. Probably the case if you have the lyrics on a medium other than your car.
Afterwards it can also be your account, it seems to me that the lyrics are only available for users with Spotify premium, for some time.

Unfortunately the problem here is not related, the example of music given, like Adele "Skyfall" are song where the lyrics are perfectly available both on Spotify and on Musixmatch.

This is therefore not a case of lyric restricted, but probably a limitation specific to cars, or software.

Hey NicolasDA, what device are you on? I am on my iPhone 15 pro, and see the lyrics for that song fine. Also, lyrics aren’t on cars.. not sure where you heard that. It is a distraction to drivers.

this is honestly annoying and it's only been occurring recently for me. this occurs for both mobile and desktop

The same problem.
Songs had lyrics. The feature worked well.
Last few months are no lyrics available . (Ellie Goulding, Sugababes, Jessie J, OneDirection, Kylie Minoque,...)
I dont understand, why Spotify still have this big bug so long time in their system.
Lyrics are unavailable in mobile Android app, Windows desktop app and webBrowser.

What you describe sounds like a common "catalogue issue" problem.

The causes that can lead to this type of problem are multiple, but in short it is the fact that the lyrics are no longer properly linked to the Spotify music.

This is the most common and easily solvable problem :

1. For this you should join the community Slack open to all.
2. In this Slack, a channel named "#catalogue-issues" is present.
3. And you will have to ask a "refresh" specifying the link to the album(s) concerned (even if it only affects one track, send the album link). Also, you can report wrong lyrics on this same slack, in another channel, if you want it.

If there are no other specific issues, then the lyrics will be available for viewing on Spotify within 24 to 72 hours.

I know that doing this is certainly a little longer than filling out a form, but you will be sure that the problem will really be corrected.
