Hi Spotify Team,
I'm excited to see that lossless audio has finally started rolling out to Premium subscribers! However, I've noticed that the Linux desktop client appears to be missing this highly anticipated feature.
According to the September 10, 2025 announcement, lossless streaming is available on "mobile, desktop, and tablet" - but when I check my Linux Spotify client settings, there's no option to enable lossless quality under Media Quality settings. The highest available option is still "Very High" rather than the new "Lossless" setting mentioned in the announcement.
As a Linux user and Premium subscriber, I'd really appreciate having feature parity with other desktop platforms. Many Linux users are audiophiles who would greatly benefit from 24-bit/44.1 kHz FLAC streaming, especially since we often have high-quality audio setups.
Could you please confirm:
I understand the feature is rolling out gradually, but it would be great to know that Linux users aren't being left behind on this major Premium feature enhancement.
Thanks for your time and for continuing to improve Spotify!
+1

Linux is not an official supported platform (anymore) as seen on the list of supported platforms. And the download page even states “[The engineers] work on it in their spare time and it is currently not a platform that we actively support. The experience may differ from our other Spotify Desktop clients, such as Windows and Mac.”
That statement has been there as long as I can remember. As you can see here https://aur.archlinux.org/cgit/aur.git/log/?h=spotify, it's not that uncommon for the Linux client to go months without updates, and I've seen it happen many times.
The reason we've stopped receiving updates since May is simply that 1.2.67 was released in June, which is the first client version to implement lossless (https://support.spotify.com/us/article/lossless-audio-quality/). So yeah, just a bit of patience, just let them know we exist and care (and are not patient 😂)
update the client and please post an official client to more repos than just snap and DEB
+1 for linux lossless
thanks!
I want this feature soon, ir I Will cancel my premium family subscripion
+1 for lossless on Linux client please. Cheers!
Same here, would love to have lossless on Linux.
+1 for Linux lossless. Thanks
Give us lossless on Linux!!!!
Come on, +1 for lossless on Linux!
Spotify Premium subscriber here, would be really sad if the Linux version doesn't get lossless support.
Just adding my voice here, love Spotify on Linux and wanting that feature parity for Lossless 🙂
+1 and waiting. I'm sure the engineers are working on it when they can. Looking forward to seeing it come down the pipe.
Also Waiting for lossless support on linux, it's a must ......
Lossless for Linux plz!
Please consider this another vote here, please!
+1 - We're paying the same as anyone else. Even Tidal's web client delivers lossless.
I’ve heard before that the Spotify Linux desktop client are not actively developed anymore. Luckily, previously a new version have surfaced eventually, with the new features, two, three or maybe more months after the Windows desktop client… So I belive that the lossless feature probably will come to Linux eventually, and I belive we will have to wait a few months before that will happen…. So no need to hold ones breath, yet…. I reckon.
Please add lossless to the Linux client. Thank you.
I almost switched to Tidal, but then news about Spotify Lossless popped up.
I can confirm that I have the lossless option on my Pixel phone, but it is still lacking in the Linux client app.
Hey there you, Yeah, you! 😁 Welcome - we're glad you joined the Spotify Community! While you here, let's have a fun game and get…
