Spotify crashing sound indicator

  1. Dell Inspiron 13 5000 - Ubuntu-Mate 16.04.3
  2. Premium account

  4. When I change the Spotify volume, the sound indicator (on the panel) stops working and doesn't change the system volume when I slide the indicator or click to open 'soud settings'.

Spotfy for Linux is actually unmaintained, so it may be a very long time till it gets fixed:

In particular:

Spotify’s rep also says the company do ‘want to fix’ some minor issues, like incorrect MPRIS data being passed to sound applets in GNOME, Unity, Cinnamon, etc, but when this may happen is as-yet unknown.
