My Question or Issue

The mac app won't show any airplay devices other than my phone or the web browser. My iphone Spotify app can see and send audio to any airplay device but my mac won't even show them. I think this was working fine when i was using an intel Macbook pro, but I'm not 100% sure if switching to M1 is what triggered this.

Can't believe this issue has been going on for so long - be good for someone to clarify if this is a Spotify or Mac OS (I'm running Sonama) issue though.

Only workaround I have is to use Airfoil (which works great) https://rogueamoeba.com/airfoil/mac/

I'm seeing this too.

Spotify for macOS (Apple Silicon) (14.1)
1.2.22.982.g794acc0a

I can see one device (an Apple TV), but not the other ( a Belkin Soundform Connect)
On my iPhone, I can see the Belkin under "Airplay or Bluetooth" but nothing on the desktop or webplayer, even after playing on the phone.

I have the same issue with Spotify on macOS 14.1 (Sonoma). It works great with other apps on macOS, but unable to stream to AirPlay or AirPlay 2 devices from Spotify. It sucks to switch to another music streaming service for this reason, as Spotify is otherwise great!

This issues seems unresolved after months, and inexplicably so. Airplay devices used to appear on the Spotify app for MacOS (like my iMac 5k) just as they do on the iOS app (iPhone). What happened? It is certainly the opposite of progress from the user perspective.

Spotify support. Let us know the official word on whether Spotify on OSX supports Airplay or if Apple does not allow Airplay as a feature on Spotify OSX.

Just ran into this issue today. I guess i won't hold my breath for a fix given how old this thread is.

Same thing happening for me here. Tried everything. Would be insane not to fix this.... Seriously hampers my experience with Spotify.

Same exact issue. This is wild. Spotify - hello?

I was looking at this issue because I had the same problem, and I wanted to share a workaround that I found. So long as your mac is set up to play to your airplay device, you can just have Spotify play to your mac and change your output on your mac to the airplay speakers by clicking on the sound icon in your upper right menu on mac.

But I think that actually uses the AirPlay device as a sound output for the operating system and not for Spotify alone, thus also plays other sounds - such as YouTube in your web browser - on the AirPlay device.

Crazy how can this fly under the radar or be ignored for such a long time?

Hi @Alex

Unfortunately your proposition is out of usual user/product approach.

Users are complaining, that they can't peek Airplay device from Mac version of Spotify app.

Same for webplayer.

I can select my Airplay device from system preferences, but that's not what i want.

I don't want to transfer all sounds from my mac to speaker, just Spotify.
It works perfectly fine for iphone/android though, just not for Mac.

It is very unconvincing way to select audio output.

If You're not going to fix this bug, just close this thread with proper comment, if this bug is planned to be fixed, please provide some details from backlog.

Wow, Spotify still hasn't fixed this.
It's 2024!
I can't get airplay to connect to my apple homepod mini either.
It's driving me crazy.
From Seoul, South Korea.

Any solution yet?

Still no fix after all this time. Unbelievable

This is incredible.  While we are not all expert techies, at least we have simple and relevant questions such as if it works on iOS then why does it not work on macOS?  If there is/are specific reason/s, then what are they?  What are Spotify's plan for this capability?  Is it on their roadmap?  Please don't ignore us and treat us like ignoramuses.

Considering moving back to Spotify from Apple Music and I'm amazed this is still not possible on desktop. Only way I can play music through my Homepod while using my computer audio is on iPhone... Airfoil works but it has an annoying delay because it streams it via unconventional method.

My Mac OS Spotify app cannot find the two Apple HomePod speakers on my network, but my iPhone's app can. I even deleted and reinstalled the Mac app, but that did not help. Any ideas? That seems like a bug.
Help appreciated.
Macbook Air M2 running Sequoia 15.1.1.
Spotify for macOS (Apple Silicon)
Spotify Version: 1.2.51.345.gcc39d911

I found the solution to this. It was in the Privacy and Security part of Settings app. Choose local network and then toggle on the Spotify app. It was being blocked from seeing other devices on the network.

Not a solution for me.
No Homepod seen. My Mac is in the same wifi with the speaker.
