I would expect my "New episodes" podcasts list to only contain new episodes of podcasts that I am currently subscribed to. But it also contains new episodes of podcasts I am either no longer subscribed to, or have never been subscribed to at all (but I have listened to part of an episode of that podcast, most likely to see if it interested me).
Is this a bug? Or is there some way to only show new episodes in this list of the podcasts that I am currently following/subscribed to?
I am using the v11.68 MacOS client on MacOS 11.6, and I have a Dutch Premium account. Restarting the app and the Mac has not fixed the problem (which has been occuring for at least a month now).
Hi @bhermans,
Thank you for posting on the Community!
The New Episodes list should update by itself the more you play your favorite podcasts. If it hasn't changed for a while, please try opening your account on a different device and check if you see the exact same content there.
Alternatively, could you connect to a different internet/mobile network to see if there's a difference?
Keep us posted.
My podcasts episodes list has new episodes added to it multiple times a week, but the problem has been occuring longer than that.
Also, on both the web app and the Mac desktop the "New episodes" list still contains incorrect episodes. The list in the app (at least currently) is more correct than the list in the web app (which contains a number of episodes which I have completed listening to and/or which I have marked as played). But even the desktop app still contains episodes of podcasts which I am no longer following/have never followed.
Hi @bhermans,
Thank you for your reply.
The way podcasts are displayed is different on the mobile and desktop app. At the moment, while the mobile app lists the new episodes from all your shows, the desktop app doesn't.
However, there's a live idea that asks for the possibility to see the list of new episodes the exact same way in both apps. You can support the idea by adding your +VOTE and clicking on Subscribe. That'll make sure you stay up-to-date with any relevant updates about this.
In any case, since this section is updated automatically based on your listening habits, please make sure to keep listening to your selected podcasts and not use the Private Session while you do. Eventually, this will make the unwanted podcasts disappear.
Hope this clears things up.
What a lame answer. How long does it take for these unwanted episodes to go away???
Hi there @amyorama,
Thank you for your reply in this thread. We're sorry you feel this way.
As mentioned above it depends on how much your listening to your favorite podcasts as it update by itself the more you play your favorite podcasts.
On another note, do you see the same behavior if you're using a different device?
We'll keep an eye out for your reply.
Cheers!
It happens on the same Mac computer. It happens both in the app as well as in the web version of Spotify.
The new episodes list still contains podcasts which I am not following, and which I have not listened to at all or not in the last few months.
The new episodes list also seems to have become shorter recently (in how far back you can see older episodes), both on the desktop app as well as in the web app. That doesn't help the situation, as the unwanted episodes now 'push out' valid episodes from the list.
