[Mac] App Crashing

Plan

Country

USA

Device

(Macbook Pro 2018)

Operating System

(macOS High Sierra ver. 10.13.5)

The app itself opens just fine. The issue is that when I click to play a song the app crashes without any hesitation. It does not matter how many times I uninstall it and redownload the app. For some reason it stills does this.

Hey @jaselit & @EA_MusicStation,

Please try to update the operting system on your Macs. Apple has released macOS 10.13.6 to all the users.

Let me know how it goes 🙂

Hey @EA_MusicStation, welcome to the Community.

Please try to reinstall following the steps listed below:

  1. Click Spotify in the menu bar then Quit Spotify.
  2. Open Finder then click Go > Library in the menu bar. (You may need to hold the Alt key if Library isn’t visible).
  3. Open Caches and delete the com.spotify.Client folder.
  4. Click the back arrow.
  5. Open Application Support and delete the Spotify folder.
  6. Download and install Spotify.

If you're still having trouble, could you let me know the exact version of Spotify and the exact version of the operating system you're running? Do you get any error messages? Please try to disable Hardware Acceleration as well. If possible try signing with your accoun on another device with similar specs or try signing in to this device with another Spotify account.

I am having this issue, as well. Absolutely nothing plays. I have cleared the cache from the library, deleted the app, and reinstalled it. I have tried turning off all local files multiple times. I have turned off hardware acceleration.

Was happening randomly for the past two weeks. Now every track I select gets the "Can't play the current song" error message.

I have a premium account. Running MacOS 10.13.5.

@jaselit @EA_MusicStation,

Are you using a VPN?

Is Spotify in your host file?

How to get to your hosts file:

  1. Go to Applications in Finder.
  2. Go to Utilities and open Console.
  3. Type sudo nano /etc/hosts
  4. Do what it says (putting in your password)
  5. Remove the whole line with Spotify in it.
  6. Click ^X and type Y.

The new Mac OS update worked> Thanks for the help!

I just did it and the app works perfectly fine now. That was probably the issue.

Really happy that you guys solved it! 🎉
