Volume Range Changed

To normalize volume through the stack (Qudelix 5K w/ very sensitive IEMs), I often have the slider volume in the desktop app of my Mac very low (1-5%~).

As of the latest update, the volume range seems constrained. The low volume is much louder, and the high volume is quieter. Please revert this change, or provide an option in settings to do so. Even some advanced option for linear vs logarithmic volume would be much appreciated.

Thanks for reaching out via the Community and for sharing this info about your setup.

While Spotify doesn't have an immediate option for switching between linear and logarithmic volume curves, here are a few suggestions you could try that might help unlock more range in the meantime:

• Within the app's Settings > Playback > turn Off Normalize volume which could restore the original dynamic range.
• Since you're using Qudelix 5K, you might try setting a max limit (-30dB or -40dB) within the device's internal settings. 
• Test in the Web Player if you haven't already. It doesn't sync with the system mixer in the same way, which might give you back that 1-5% control you prefer.

I'm also finding this to be an issue. Apple Music has the same behaviour which is what has made me always use Spotify on my Mac. I have always had the normalise volume option disabled.

Although I wouldn't considered the lowest volume "loud", I'd say it's still comparable to someone speaking, which makes it un-useable when I'm in long call team calls that don't require 100% attention.
