How do I stop phone calls interrupting music on iMac?

My Question or Issue
Hi @Simon52 and thanks for reaching out to the Community! 🙂
Are you referring to FaceTime/iPhone calls disrupting your music playback? If you could provide a little more background - or anything you might've tried already - I'd be happy to try and help! 😄
if a phone call or message comes into one of the iphones linked to the iMac the spotify music is muted.
Hi again @Simon52 and thanks for the extra info! 🙂
My best suggestion is to try disabling your notifications on Mac. When you go into System Preferences>Notifications there are a couple options. You can put your Mac in Do Not Disturb mode which can block all notices. Or you can change specific settings for just FaceTime and Messages individually on the side menu. This will not stop your phone from receiving them, but should keep things from popping up in Mac and disrupting your music. I attached some screen shots just for reference and hope this was helpful! Feel free to reply if you have more questions and have a fantastic day! 🙂
Thanks I did try that before posting question and it didn't seem to work ;-( however I will try again and double check - I was hoping there might be something deep in Spotify I couldn't find. Thanks for having a go - much appreciated. Best Simon
Hi again @Simon52 ! Sorry to hear that it hadn't worked for you prior. 😞
Unfortunately, this would be within Mac itself and not a Spotify option since the computer is pausing the music to receive other audio. A couple other things we could maybe try - if you haven't already.
1. In the Messages app itself - when you open the Preferences pane - I would disable the checkbox that says to Play Sound Effects if it's currently marked.
2. In FaceTime - also under Preferences - you could try unchecking the box for allowing calls from iPhone if you would rather not receive these on your computer.
I hope that maybe this was useful! Feel free to reply if there's anything else I can help with and have a lovely day! 🙂
Is anything different with macOS Big Sur?
Hey @Soptify_274,
Thanks for posting here 🙂
If the same Apple account is being used across a phone and a laptop (Apple devices), the devices will sync up. This will affect any processes/devices in the event there's an incoming call.
In this case we'd suggest you contact Apple support. The folks there can give you more information about it.
