My Question or Issue

Spotify client cannot handle large local library (30k mp3s).

Trying to add the entire library, using Add Source, causes a runaway memory leak (3.5GB+), the client stops responding, eventually Windows displays a message that the application has stopped working.

Nothing in the system log, and the application event log isn't particularly helpful:

Faulting application name: Spotify.exe, version: 1.1.14.475, time stamp: 0x5d5dc4b8
Faulting module name: Spotify.exe, version: 1.1.14.475, time stamp: 0x5d5dc4b8
Exception code: 0x40000015
Fault offset: 0x0013c7cc
Faulting process id: 0x1514

Is there a spotify log?

ok, so... this just looks like sloppy development.

If I add the files piecemeal, 5k at a time, for example, the app freezes while it does whatever it does, (building a list of the files and all their metadata, probably) but eventually completes the task, and adds all the files to the library.

If I try to add all 30K, Spotify ignores the fact that it's a 32-bit app and tries to use more than 4GB of RAM while building the list of files.

That's just bad development.
