Solved!

App not working correctly. Coloured blocks obscuring view since Spotlight effect update.

Anyone know when an update to resolve this is happening? Have reinstalled the app. Windows 10. Noticed this has been happening since that visual "spotlight" effect was introduced.

Okay, there are a few users experiencing these issues, and I'm pretty sure these are caused by currupted Spotify app resources. They are located here:

C:\Users\์šธ๋ผ๋ผ\AppData\Roaming\Spotify\Apps

You can see a bunch of SPA file extensions here- Spotify loads the PC app based on JavaScript, JSON and .css files etc. readable through these SPA file extensions- If Spotify does not load correctly, that must mean your Spotify App resources might be corruped or deleted(or any reasons) You're running on Windows 10, which means it's not the problem of incompatibe OS versions; but since Spotify loads like this since the 'spotlight' effect was updated, it must have to do something with this.

I got Dangerous solutions and Safe solutions for troubleshooting- if these dangerous solutions work you'd be able to troubleshoot right away (hope so) but you could choose the safe way(Contact spotify:https://support.spotify.com/us/contact-spotify-support/) Sorry, I cannot help you directly because I couldn't test the same situations of yours ๐Ÿ˜ž

Here are the Dangerous Solutions:

First, try out deleting the jpg files:

images\stranger-things-nether-bottom-left.png
images\stranger-things-nether-bottom-right.png
images\stranger-things-spores.png

These are the resources of 'spotlight' effect. If this is colliding with other processes and messing with Spotify, you might be able to troubleshoot by deleting these files; they are located here.

C:\Users\์šธ๋ผ๋ผ\AppData\Roaming\Spotify\Apps\zlink.spa\images

You can access SPA extensions through WinRAR viewers.

Also, can you downgrade the versions of Spotify? This is NOT a solution I'd like to suggest, but at least we could try it out. (When downloading from external links, look out for malwares and viruses.)

I just suggest contacting Spotify; I'm not a computer professionals or anything. So extreme caution when trying to take the Dangerous Route

Good luck ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks for the hack, though I couldn't open the images dir.

After speaking with Customer Support on chat, I had to download and run Ccleaner and tidy up the registry several times.

Then manually delete the Spotiy directory in here:

C:\Users\์šธ๋ผ๋ผ\AppData\Roaming\

Then reinstall and restart.

This actually took about 5 or 6 attempts but it seems to be working now.

Good thing it works now! Certainly contacting Spotify is the best solution- enjoy Spotify ๐Ÿ™‚
