Back button goes back twice on the browser

Back button goes back twice on the browser

Free, Windows 10, Edge browser

When I am in one of my playlists, I do a search from search function, than I go back to the previous page, instead of going back to my playlist, it goes back twice, for example, it goes to the last album that I checked. So if I go from an album to my playlist to search something, after I am in a search page, and if I try to go to back page, instead of my playlist, it goes back to the last album that I checked. If I go from my playlist to an album to search, back button works twice and instead of going back to the album, it goes back to the playlist.

This problem only occurs if you search something. Going back between albums and playlists is fine.

Hey there @blabala22,

Thanks for reaching out.

If you haven't already, we'd suggest making sure your browser is updated to the latest version available.

If you're still experiencing the issue after updating, let us know the make and model of your computer so that we can pass this info to the relevant teams for further investigation.

Keep us posted.

My browser is updated. I use a desktop. Now going back twice after a search goes back to the playlist of the song that is being played instead of going back twice.

Hi @blabala22,

Thanks for the reply.

We tested this extensively on our end, but it seems to be inconsistent. So that we can further narrow down the issue, can you please let us know the following:

  • Does this happen in an incognito window?
  • Does this happen on different browsers?
  • Does this happen on different devices or only one Windows 10 PC?

Let us know how it goes.

I tried in Chrome as well as Edge, I got the same problem. I didn't try with incognito. I only use Windows 10 PC.

"We tested this extensively on our end, but it seems to be inconsistent" What is inconsistent?

Hey again @blabala22,

Thanks for letting us know! We tested this once more on our end, unfortunately without being able to reproduce the issue.

To verify if we're on the same page here - when going from an album to a playlist to then performing a search in the web player, going back does not return you to the previous page but one page before that, making you end up on the album page instead of the playlist. Recently this behaviour seems to have changed, returning you to the playlist of the currently playing song instead.

What I'm thinking here - in case we've understood the issue correctly but can't reproduce it regardless - is that your mouse/ keypad might be registering two (or more) clicks instead of one. I've had a very similar issue two times before myself so I think it's worth taking a look into this. I'd check if this browser behaviour is strictly linked to you using the web player.

Keep us posted on how things go! We'll be on the lookout 🙂

Here's what happens :

I am in one of my playlist, let's say MyPlaylist1 → Than I go to MyPlaylist2 → I search something from MyPlaylist2 page → When I go back, instead of going back to MyPlaylist2, It goes back to MyPlaylist1 (but not necessarily, it can be an artist page too).

I do use AHK but going back twice causes problem only in this situation, and it only happens in spotify. I sent my AHK code to Chatgpt, it said problem is not in my code.

Clearing cookies didn't fix anything.

Hi again, @blabala22

Thanks for keeping in contact!

It would be very helpful if you can try going to the Web Player in a different device. You can borrow a different computer from a relative or a friend if you don't have another one of your own. You can also try on a mobile device or tablet, if possible.

After trying this, if the issue is only present on your current PC, send us in your next reply the following info:

  • The affected device make, model and OS version.
  • The version of the current browser you're using.
  • Since when is this happening? Did it start after a device OS update or some other specific situation?

Keep us in the loop!

If you can't reproduce it, it's gotta be my pc only.

Windows 10, I tried with Chrome browser, Edge browser, Edge PWA.

I don't understand what you mean by spotify version, it's a website.

Both browsers are up to date. Edge 145.0.3800.82.

I created this post at "2025-12-13 06:01 PM" so, than or that week probably.

"Did it start after a device OS update or some other specific situation?" no.

Hi there, @blabala22

Thanks for coming back to us!

You've already mentioned you're using a desktop device, but, just to confirm, are you using a wired mouse or a Bluetooth/wireless mouse? Also, is the issue still happening if you don't use AHK?

If you prefer to keep using AHK, alternatively, you can try setting a default delay for all Send commands within your script, to ensure they are not sent too fast for Spotify to register.

Keep us posted!

Logitech m170. Issue is still happening when I closed AHK.

Hey @blabala22,

Thank you for the info.

We've forwarded all of this to the relevant team so they can have a look and if there's any other details we need or if there are any updates, we'll make sure to post here in the thread.

In the meantime, don't hesitate to let us know if anything else comes up. Cheers!
