My Question or Issue
Spotify cannot play any music or load things like playlists, profile or library. I tried to reinstall multiple times. I assume my internet connection is not the problem because apps like Discord or Edge are working fine.

Hey there @Etenic,
I read through this thread and it's very likely that there is a corrupted file related to an older Spotify installation on your PC.
You can try going into Windows Safe Mode again and uninstalling the Spotify app, following the clean reinstall procedure. Safe mode will allow you to remove some files which might not be visible or that can't be removed while you've started Windows in the regular way. Check the following directories as well and delete them:
After that start windows normally and re-install the Spotify app from the MS store.
Let us know how you get on.
Hi,
I've done a clean reinstall on Safe Mode but somehow the app still doesn't work. Is there any other way of deleting the corrupted file in case there is any?
Thanks for helping out.
Hi,
I have the same problem, the problem occurred when I switched from windows 10 to 11, before that spotify worked perfectly.
Edit: I decided to do a factory reset to my pc and now spotify works properly.
Hey folks,
Thanks for your replies.
@Etenic, just to confirm, have you also tried checking and deleting the directories @Alex mentioned previously? That would help get rid of any remaining files which might be corrupted. On another note, could you let us know how much available storage space does your PC have?
@Kevin132, thanks for letting us know what worked for you as it might be helpful for other users who are experiencing this as well.
We'll be on the lookout.
hey i think i can help. 1. Open your notepad as an administration. 2. Click file, open. 3. Go to Local Disk C. 4. Open Windows 5. Open System 32. 6. Open drivers. 7. Open etc. (click all files to down right and not txt). 8. Open hosts. (something like codes will show up on your notepad) 9. Delete all the lines related !ONLY! to spotify (example 0.0.0.0 spclient.wg.spotify.com). 10. Click file and save. 11. Open your spotify again. I hope this will help you, i was trying for 5-6 months to find a solution and this actually saved my life.
Hi, thanks for the replies,
@Eni, yes I checked both of the directories. I have 143GB left in my storage.
@nekrasivaya, thanks for the tip, but i tried doing that 3 times before and still nothing.
Hey @Etenic,
Thanks for your reply and for all the info shared.
Since we couldn't replicate this issue on our end, the final process that we can suggest is a factory reset. This might fix some damaged processes that could be interfering with the proper connection with the app, but we know that this process will erase all data from your device, so it's optional if you want to do it. Make sure to have a secure copy of all your data in case you want to complete this process.
It's quite a bit of troubleshooting we've been through and we're at a point where the issue seems to be isolated to your computer. In that sense, it'd need help from Microsoft instead. We're usually able to solve most common issues that the Spotify app might stumble upon due to some Windows settings, but this is turning out to be beyond our scope. We also recommend checking with Microsoft support for more detailed instructions and troubleshooting.
Thanks for your understanding and keep us in the loops on this!
Hi,
Thanks for helping out. I decided to do a factory reset and it fixed the problem. Plus it also fixed some other problems i had with Edge. I appreciate your kindness.
For the past several weeks spotify has just, stopped working entirely on my computer, I can still use it on my phone just fine but on my computer it just refuses to work. if I open the site it just says "something went wrong try reloading"
But if I open the app then it opens seemingly like normal, but it says I don't have any playlists despite in the screenshots you can see some of my playlists on the side, and if I click on them then they either just, load forever, or will say "couldn't find that playlist"
If I click on an artist it opens them but if I try to play anything just, nothing happens, the play button doesn't change or anything the button is "clicked" but nothing else happens.
