My Question or Issue

Experiencing ~5s of crossfade on both of my devices despite the duration being set to 0s and the setting turned off. Automix is also turned off. Happens with my own Playlist as well as others'.

Hey @AlKaZ,

Thanks for reaching out!

It's quite odd that the setting won't turn off, this may indicate that something is overwriting your manual changes to the settings. As there seem to be no similar reports on the forum, I'd recommend some troubleshooting here.

We can start by logging out everywhere first - you can do so by following this page. Once you're logged out, log in to a single device and check your Crossfade settings. Toggle them on and back off in case they appear off but the app behaviour remains the same.

Something else that's worth checking is if you have the Mix feature toggled on: it allows users to create seamless and customizable transitions between the songs in the playlist and you might have accidentally activated it while viewing the playlist. To turn it off, tap the "Mix" button at the top of the playlist again or if you don't see it, look for a "Turn off mix" option in the three dots menu instead.

💡 Tip: When the feature is enabled, the Play button changes its appearance as shown on the screenshot below.

Should the issue remain, it may be getting caused by something that behaves like the Crossfade setting e.g. a third party app. I'd advise removing them one by one to see if that would make a difference. Any apps can later be re-added at your convenience.

Once things are sorted on one of the devices, see if this will be the case for the rest of them as well - log in on them one by one and verify the app's settings and behaviour.

Hope this helps! Keep us posted on how things go 🙂

The exact same thing is happening to me! Gapless playback, automix, and crossfade is all turned off but I am getting about 5 seconds of overlap. Logging out and back in has not fixed it.

My app in windows cross fades the songs, even though I have turned off both cross fade and automix - it is driving me crazy. Can someone help please.

Thanks.

Me too. wth. Possible musician renumerration scandal? Because a song was not completely played and may only settled the artists for a partial listen of some description.

I am also having the same problem, and it started out of nowhere! It's so annoying

Hey folks,

Thanks for reaching out in this thread! Apologies for the radio silence, we just came across this thread again and as we're seeing a few new reports here, we'd like to look into this further.

Just to confirm, have you tried all the steps mentioned earlier in this thread by @Vasil? Such as removing 3rd party apps and switching off the Mix feature.

If so, and if this behavior persists, it would be great if you could send us a few more details on what's happening from your end:

  • Does this happen on all devices you use Spotify on or just a specific one?
  • Are you using Bluetooth headphones when this occurs? Any difference when listening directly from the device(s) speakers?
  • Current Spotify version.

Keep us posted!
