My Question or Issue

The spotify desktop app on my PC won't play any music. If I double click a specific song, Spotify sends an error message saying that it can't play the song, but that "if you have the file stored on your PC, you can import it". If I try and play the whole album with the big green "play" button, the app will skip through all the songs in the album or playlist without playing. The web player works, and the desktop app works on a different computer.

I have followed all the suggested solutions such as disable hardware acceleration, reinstall the app, and ensure the app is allowed in anti-virus.

Hey there @ninjabeck

Thanks for searching for the answer you need here!

If you aren't able to play any track on the Spotify desktop app and this doesn't occur on a different PC you might be experiencing an issue that we're currently investigating. We suggest you go to this Ongoing Issue and add your vote to it by clicking on the +VOTE button. Make sure you follow the steps provided under Status Update as well.

It'll also be useful to subscribe via the three-dots menu in the top right corner next to the title. That'll make sure you stay up to date with any relevant updates about this.

Hope this helps. Let us know if you have any more questions.

Try running it as admin (right click, run as administrator), it worked for me.  I can log in with a free account and it works perfectly, but log out and in with my premium account and the issue returns.   On mine it looks like it's something local related to my account in some way which a new account isn't linked to.
