My Question or Issue

The Spotify app's previous update has introduced a significant time wasting feature that loads the Artists list in very small numbers while scrolling instead of loading the entire list.

If I cannot remember the artist's name and I need to scroll through, It takes FOREVER now. Please revert to the previous behaviour of loading all artists, even add the option for a list view that Ignores all the artist's artwork to lower bandwidth requirements.

Hi there @3576742,

Thank you for your post here in the Community. We're happy to help.

Can you perform a clean reinstall of the app? This will make sure there's no old cache files causing this.

Another useful step is to try with a different internet connection.

If that doesn't do the trick, can you provide us a screen recording so that we can have a closer look directly from your end?

We'll keep an eye out for your reply.

Cheers!

Live, love, laugh and listen to music 🙂

I went through the removal and reinstall process and it's not helped matters, also another bug I have come across is when you go from artist view to an artist then click the back arrow you are at the top of the list again.

Internet connection has nothing to do with it, a corporate SHDSL of 500mbps should be plenty fast, I'm in the IT dept and I don't have any filtering or proxies etc in the way.

This is some truly terrible UX design, I cannot understand how you would choose to regress to such an annoying degree. Does Spotify even test their app before release?

Hey @3576742,

Thanks for your reply.

Sorry to hear that the clean reinstall didn't improve the performance of the app.

You can try the following:

  • Download the app from our Website if you're using the MS store one or vice versa
  • Clear any entries containing Spotify from your host files - follow this guide

If the loading performance doesn't improve afterwards, you can add your feedback on the new update here. The user feedback from that thread is being passed on directly to the dev team, who are looking to improve the usability of the app in future updates.

Keep us posted on how you get on.
