For me, it also started happening near june 15th.

Also, my Antivirus, Firewall, etc have exactly the same configs as they had before the black screen appeared.

Hey @PrearoL,

Thank you for reaching out to the Community and welcome. We moved your post from the previous thread to a new one as it seems to be a different issue. Hope you don't mind.

Taking into account that you’re receiving an error message when trying to log in instead of a black screen, would you mind checking with a different network connection to see if it makes any difference? If you don’t have another one available, you can use a mobile data hotspot to test it.

Also, could you check if the Web Player is working properly or if it gives the same error?.

Lastly, if you installed the app from the official website, we'd recommend installing the version available in the Microsoft Store (or vice versa) to see if the error persists.

Hope this helps. Let us know how it goes.

Hello, it is only happening because I uninstalled Spotify Application after it showing the black screen. Webplayer is working and my internet connection also works fine.

This Error code 4 started to show after the 4th or 5th time I tried to reinstall Spotify. Before that, I was able to login, but I wasn't able to play any music and after trying to close and re-open Spotify: black screen again.

Windows Store version also doesn't work, as I said on another reply.

I have tried everything (flush DNS, erase temp files, etc, etc)

Thanks for the additional details, @PrearoL.

On the login screen, could you click 'Settings' and set the 'Proxy type' to No proxy, then restart the app to see if that does the trick?

I'd also suggest trying the all steps from the Troubleshooting menu which can be accessed from the three-dots in the top left corner > Help.

Let us know if you're able to log in then. Should the issue persist, please share the exact version of Spotify you're running. You can check this Windows' Settings > Apps > Installed apps > Spotify.

Cheers 🤘

I don't know why you're treating this case as something different from this one.

None of the solutions works. I have already tried that and all the things below:

  • changing proxy type
  • reinstall from app store/spotify website
  • turn hardware acceleration on/off
  • update display drivers
  • clear hosts
  • confirmed web player works
  • safe mode with networking
  • check firewall settings
  • reset app data and restart
  • flush DNS
  • delete prefs and user folder

As everything listed as a fix in this and this thread was either temporary or ineffective, please take this to the developers; it seems beyond the mods' ability to find a permanent solution to this problem.

App version: latest, as I just downloaded it. (1.292.148.0
