Extremely high CPU usage when displaying top "banner ad"

When Spotify Desktop (Windows Store version) is open and the top banner is visible the CPU-usage of the apllication rises to about 84% on a 3.2ghz Microsoft Surface Book Pro. This is most likely due to snow flakes and cars being heavy to animate. As a Premium user I would like to be able to opt-out of such ads.
