My Question or Issue

I have noted a very high CPU usage from watching podcast videos on the Spotify desktop app. When listening to music the CPU usage is around 1%, while watching a video is around 40%. Sometimes it spikes even higher and causes stuttering for both video and audio. The CPU usage for a Youtube video on Chrome is around 1%.

Hi there @tobiasmohl,

Thanks for reaching out about this in the Community!

Can you give us a bit more info on this issue, we'd like to look into it?

  • Spotify Version
  • When did this start happening
  • Is it happening on every podcast or just specific episodes
  • Have you tried connecting to another network
  • Do you have Hardware acceleration enabled from the settings in the Desktop app

We'll be on the lookout for your replies 🙂

Hey @StoneOcean

Thanks for providing us with the necessary details.

If you experience what @tobiasmohl described it's a good idea to perform a clean reinstall of the Spotify desktop app. This will let you start afresh with the latest app version.

In case this persists after the clean reinstall, check your hosts file for entries that need to be deleted. Follow the steps described here on how you can do that.

Hope this helps. Keep us posted.
