How I do I automatically open links from a web browser in Spotify Desktop app and not webplayer?

How I do I automatically open links from a web browser in Spotify Desktop app and not webplayer?

How can I configure Spotify Desktop App and/or Web Player to automatically open links in Spotify Desktop App?

For example, if I click this:

https://open.spotify.com/album/3v2GjFB9V5kHgrOCXn3sI9?si=rneGiFfGQ-eH-87Q-TpWhQ

I want that album to open in the Desktop app, NOT a new window or a new tab.

How do I configure this? I have a premium account, Windows 10.

Hey @ACAx1985,

Take a look at:

https://community.spotify.com/t5/Other-Partners-Web-Player-etc/Open-open-spotify-com-links-in-deskto...

It describes some workarounds that might work for you.

An easy workaround is for people to share the spotify URI and not the URL.

Then you instruct your browser to allow redirections for anything starting with "spotify:" to Spofity Desktop.

Try to open the Spotify URI for any music in your browser and it should ask what to do with it. Typically spotify desktop will be part of the list of available programs.

Otherwise see if any of the workarounds described in the post above works for you.

Hope it helps. J

Kind Regards
