Hi all, I'd like to customize radio stations to add artists, but the only option I'm seeing is to follow artists. Can you customize radio stations in Spotify like you can with Pandora? I didn't find anything on the boards for this. And also, how do you delete radio stations? I'm not finding Spotify to be very intuitive. Thanks in advance!
Solved! Go to Solution.
From other posts I'm seeing, radio seems to be pretty unreliable recently. Not sure if they're modifying the algorithms or what but, hopefully it will work better soon. All I can suggest is to make sure you have 200 tracks in your playlist before starting a radio station from it. Alternatively try using one of the related artist playlist generators (search google).
I don't see how to create a playlist radio station. How do you do that?
Thanks for this suggestion. I google searched this problem and you were the one who solved this for me. I never really thought about creating a station from my liked radio songs. Thanks so much!
@vyalom Sorry no one replied to you yet. To make a station based off of a playlist, right click the playlist title on the left bar and then click 'Start Playlist Radio'.
I disagree, i want the raido feature above all others. The reason being, i don't always want to know what's coming up next. Hey spotify - suprise me! But that's not an option here. I came over from Pandroa due to hearing how much better it is but the raido function is laughable.
Not only that, why do i have to be pigeon holed into a particular genere? With pandora you can add artists from other genre's and have a variey without changing the channel. I don't understand why this has not been addressed already.
Disappointing
August, 2016 and we still dont have this feature, dont waste your time reading old posts like I did.
Its not that hard to implement that feature, they just dont want to do it
I guess it's ack to Pandora. I'm also trying out the Premimum channel:
* No live chat rooms for quick and direct answers to your questions
* Blogs that take forever to weed through
* Can't create a radio station that draws in different music selections based on your preferences. I'm looking for new and fresh ideas for a playlist not one based on what I already know.
If I create a playlist and start the radio, will it mix in tracks similar to the ones already in the playlist or just those songs already in?
one thing you can do to get around the fact that there isn't a modify button is to create a PLAYLIST with all of the 'variety' that you want (i.e. music from the artists you want to hear) and then right click that playlist and click go to playlist radio!
I just joined and this is still in 2017? $10 versus $5 a month for Pandora. I hope to justify extra cost soon.
In the extreme,
Think of all music--
Then filter out
What you don't want to hear again.
From all of your great comments and insights, this thread has been a repeat inspiration to me and to my friends who keep looking for ways to hear all of the great music-- The easy way-- By just playing it.
My friends figured out how to actually do it-- Shuffle all the great music on Spotify into one perpetual and NonRepeating stream-- (Great! Of course, by our personal choice, yes?) . . .
NonRepeating and perpetual radio-- All of Spotify >> https://open.spotify.com/user/rednblu/playlist/4BIEfdQC3CXOa1N0mTFAEy <<
Spotify could just reverse engineer the above WorkingPrototype to give userAdjustable music feeds . . . .
Simple instructions for Spotify to play that demo-- to which I have applied my own personal ThumbsDown by [Track and Artist]--
* Turn off the Spotify shuffle-- because the Spotify shuffle will just loop forever on less than 100 tracks and will never get to All of Spotify.
* Start playing from the top of the demo.
* Play through until you want to stop.
* When you restart, just search for where you stopped, and start playing the next track.
* Whenever the track where you stopped is not found, just play from the top again-- because the shuffled stream refreshes automatically as a perpetual and NonRepeating feed of All of Spotify.
My friends have tried many times to get the "Playlist Radio" function to combine the various Artists like Pandora-- but we cannot get any of the official Spotify radios to actually shuffle without looping through the same 100 tracks over and over. What do you find?
The above WorkingPrototype also implements a lot of the ideas you have taught us in this discussion about how the "Playlist radios" should actually pay attention to 1) changes I make in the "playlist seed list" and 2) block any [track or artist] that I have Thumbsed down.
Amen and thanks for all of your ideas and inspirations on this thread for the last three years and more . . . .
it will mix in other songs too! 🙂
@schuchardt, how would you get it to mix in other songs too? Did you get it to work? Were you using the "Start playlist radio"? How many tracks did you play before it started repeating?
Thanks for any information you can give us . . . .
@rednblu Hey, yes. My method is as follows: create a playlist with the representative artists of the radio station you want (it will add other artists) and then you right click on that playlist and click "Go to Playlist Radio," this will take to a "playlist" that has about 40 tracks on it with all kinds of variety (i.e. different songs from the artists in the origional playlist as well as tracks from similar artists), but as you play that radio station "playlist" it will load more and more songs, the current radio station I'm listening to has 10 songs in the original playlist and I've been listening to it for many hours with only hearing one repeat. If you don't like the original 40 songs that spotify picks out for you, just click on the bottom song and then click next...it will load a whole new 40 songs.
Sorry if this a repost just thought I'd chime in you can unfollow a radio station essentially deleting it from use did on my phone don't know if program is different
How do you turn off Spotify shuffle function?
