Importing Local Files

Importing Local Files

Premium Member here

This is the single most frustrating part of Spotify. It is too difficult compared to iTunes or even Windows Media Player, which is the worst player in my opinion. Still both of those allow for easier importing of files into their systems than this.

I am not trying to import files from either of those sources. I am trying to import from a file location. They are in the correct format, but when I link to the Users>Public Music>Folder Name location, they don't show up. No matter what I do including trying to logout/login, it shows nothing.

This should be easy to do. Period. I should be able to import from the menu like you can with iTunes instead of this "automatic" import that obviously doesn't work correctly.

Can you please give a workaround on this?

I am tired of the problem with local files. I have done everything that is required. I have the correct file type. I have the flipping location added as a source. And YET this service cannot find them.

For being a premium member I expected more than this. This is just flipping nuts for local files to be this difficult.

This needs to be easy. E.G., this needs to be like iTunes and Windows Media Player where we actually import the songs or the file locations rather than this automatic junk that clearly doesn't work.

Can anyone offer a simple solution for this? I'm at the end of my patience with trying to get flipping local files to work correctly?

UPDATE: After writing this, just for funsies, I created an iTunes playlist called SPOTIFY and went through the hoops to import it. THAT took several times, but after it "successfully" created a list with the songs, it STILL said that the local files cannot be found, so even THAT doesn't work correctly.

This is just nuts that this problem even exists in the first place! You need to go back to the drawing board and find an easier way for local files to be imported because clearly the iTunes option and the "automatic" location of the files doesn't work.

So today when I logged in, only 2 of the original 6 songs showed up. Even after I added another song to the iTunes playlist in iTunes, deleted it in Spotify, and reimported it into this program, it still only shows 2 of the 7 songs.

This is just stupid. Completely STUPID that it is this difficult to get a program to work. I'm a freaking premium member here and I have better success with Windows Media Player which I abhor.

Will someone PLEASE tell me how to fix this problem? Better yet, how about Spotify actually fix it so that importing this is easier?

Hi, I'm having a similar issue where my local music files are not syncing into Spotify either, i don't have itunes and don't really want to install it or quicktime. I have tried to get spotify to sync my local music from Windows Media Player but it won't do that.

I have checked the music that I have and they are .mp3, i've also checked in the preferences for Spotify and Windows Media Player is switched on but my Local Files list on Spotify is still empty.

Another issues i am having is when i try to remove a Source for Local Files, Spotify is just crashing.

I'd appreciate any help at all.
