Local Files don't refresh

Solved!

Local Files don't refresh

Hi, I've got the problem that when I change something in my local files (in Windows Explorer), e.g. remove a folder, rename a folder or relocate it, Spotify doesn't "get it" and shows the files multiple times (some gray) or isn't able to play them (even if white).

I already set the folder where Spotify is looking for music to My Music only but that didn't help.

My current solution is to delete Spotify completely (appdata, local and roaming) and reinstall, works but is extremely inconvenient.

Is there some other way around?

I found an apparent solution myself. In Windows Explorer go to the directory:

C:\Users\<your username>\AppData\Roaming\Spotify\Users\<some numbers>-user

theres a file called "local-files.bnk", delete it (make backup if u wish) and Spotify refreshes your local files like when you freshly installed it.

Thank you so much.

To further add to the solution, AppData is a hidden folder. Depending on which version of windows you are on, you will have to go to folder settings and click "show hidden items" to be able to see AppData. I figure most people that are uploading local files already know this but not everyone is tech savvy.
