Local files do not show up

Solved!

Local files do not show up

Hello spotify community,

Today I tried to add an album to my spotify collection which wasn't on spotify anywhere. So I imported the CD onto my PC with windows media player. WMP is selected in my preferences fbut the album does not show up in my local files. So I added the folder where it was imported to but that didn't seem to help. Does anyone know why it isn't showing up?

Make sure the file formats are supported by Spotify:

Spotify supports these file types:

  • .mp3
  • .mp4
  • .m4a
  • .m4r

Note: to play .m4a files make sure you have the latest version of QuickTime.

.m4p is supported, but these files are often DRM-protected. If a file is DRM-protected Spotify will not be able to play it, but will try to find a replacement version in the Spotify catalogue.

.m4v, .3gp, .3g2 and .mov files will be imported, but will only play if they were originally exported as audio files.

Anybody? I already reinstalled spotify and that didn't help. On my old pc there was no problem with this CD

I'm having the same problem. I bought a bunch of CDs at the weekend that I haven't found on spotify, and can't seem to get them to get onto  my local files, which is a shame. 😞

So the properties says this, I don't know much about file types but like, does this mean it doesn't work?

It shows that the file type is .wma

Spotify doesn't support .wma

Maybe you can convert it or rip it from the CD in a different file format such as .MP3?
