Lyrics feature unavailable

Hey Community!

Just a heads up that our Lyrics feature on desktop is currently unavailable as we're making some big improvements to the feature. We'll share more updates soon. 

We can also confirm our partnership with Musixmatch is ending. It was a great partnership and there is mutual respect between both companies as our business strategies move us each in different directions.

iOS users can get lyrics and annotations on some tracks via our partnership with Genius. Check out the info here! 

Please share any feedback you have here in the Community. Feel free to vote for this idea too.

So a year down the line and you still don't have a lyrics feature on desktop. Why you ended your partnership with Musixmatch is beyond me.... presumably a dispute over copyrights and royalty distrbutions. Come on Spotify....don't give us something then take it away without a decent replacement. I also discovered today that you can't message other Spoitfy users directly anymore without having to go via FB, FB messenger or Twitter etc...tedious....IF IT AIN'T BROKE DON'T FIX IT.

Well, It's been almost a full year now. Updates have happened yet nothing has changed. The online version (Play.spotify.com) has changed a lot to be like the normal desktop version. Yet the lyrics still have not been added. WHAT IS GOING ON?!?!?!?

It must be time now at least sometime this year. Just bring it back already!

For those who don't know, Musixmatch for desktop works pretty well with Spotify. It's available in the Windows Store.

Spotify Team,

I love you, I advocate for you. But we are starting to have a problem. It's been a year since you took lyrics off your platform and said "Just a heads up that our Lyrics feature on desktop is currently unavailable as we're making some big improvements to the feature. We'll share more updates soon." Now, almost a full calander year later all you can say is "Big things are coming." Either you've made progress, or you are sitting on your thumbs. Someone give us something better than "Big Things are coming."

It has been a year now! This is really bad. About Behind the lyrics, what do you do if you only wanna see the lyrics? I have to pay for this! You said soon. What is soon for you? one year? two years? five years? or maybe ten years!

Spotify has done this amazing and unusual thing that is losing features and getting worse over time... Your usual company will try to add services to win over more customers and retain the existent, but Spotify is different! I remember when I first signed up like 5 years ago there were these apps developed outside Spotify but available in the platform, some of them providing lyrics (not only Musixmatch) and other original features, so what did Spotify? Let´s do it all ourselves! And let´s just scrap it if we can´t! Maybe they won´t notice. Guess what, we noticed.

Ridiculous. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it's 2017, right? I have gone back to Amazon Music because of the lyrics. Pretty happy with it. I also get to keep all my favorite songs for a single, one-time purchase, for less than I would pay for a Spotify subscription.  I suggest everyone else do so, too, until Spotify prioritizes baseline functionality.

Please note, I'm not an Amazon shill. But no lyrics just doesn't work for me.

I have to admit, if Spotify do not even show enough respect for its users to respond to an issue that is clearly an issue for many just on the post alone i will leave and take the family accounts with it.

Spotify: What you are doing is poor customer services and you owe all these people on this post a response. a year is not temp by any means and you have taken away a feature that people enjoy with no reasonable communication.

I am directly asking you spotify, are you bringing it back or not and if you are when? i want to move on away from you if you want to ignore the people who use your services so i hope you answer.

Just to be sure i will now also log a formal complaint to make sure you see it.
