My Question or Issue

I have noticed, that when listening to ''Time'' by Pink Floyd on Spotify, that the lyrics and the song, are not matching in speed. As in, when you are listening to the song, and you press the little icon to see the lyrics as the song plays, the text on screen, is a few seconds ahead of what is being sung in the song.

This is not any major problem or anything, but i have just noticed it, and it thought that i might as well just send it here, to hopefully get it fixed one day.

Hi there @MikkelAE,

Thanks for posting in the Community and welcome.

Just to confirm, is this happening with every song you listen to? If that's the case, have you checked if it happens on different devices? If you haven't, ask a relative or friend to check from their device and let us know.

On another note, would you mind sending us a video recording of this behavior? You can attach it in your next reply in mp4 format, or you can also upload it to YouTube or Google Drive and make it public, so we can visualize it.

We'll keep an eye out for your reply!

Hi @Susan_GP

No, this is not happening with all songs, but just the one i mentioned (''Time'' by Pink Floyd)

In the video you can see and hear, that when i clicked on some of the lyrics, it took some time before you could hear the lyrics. It also shows, that you can hear some of the lyrics, while it is highlighting the next line. So the lyrics on screen, are a few seconds ahead of the actual song.  - I hope this makes sense, since it was quite hard to explain.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1bUlkk6cur2ar8f9vqYjVuHknEIK13dg8/view?usp=drive_link      -  I hope this link works, it's for Google Drive, and i have made it public i think. The video was too big to just ''drag and drop''.

Hi there @MikkelAE,

Thanks for your reply and for the info provided.

I checked from my side from two computers and couldn't replicate the behavior. The lyrics are synced and match the song correctly, so we'll need to try some troubleshooting steps to resolve the situation.

To begin with, try logging out and back in twice in a row. This might sound odd, but it forces a sync between your account and the app. If that doesn't help, then the best option is to reinstall the app by following these steps. No worries, you won't lose any saved content, but you might need to download any offline music again.

If the issue persists, check if it also happens from the Web Player. And, if possible, try with a different account.

Keep us posted!

Hi,

I have tried logging in and out of Spotify twice, and it is still not synced. I am not too sure about reinstalling the app yet, since i don't really want to go and setup my EQ again, and whatever else i have made in my settings. So is there a way around this, or is there another way perhaps?

Hi again @MikkelAE,

Thanks for getting back to us.

We understand where you're coming from. However, keep in mind that performing a clean reinstall of the app can help solve a lot of these smaller issues, hence why we always suggest this as a first step. Since we haven't been able to replicate this behavior, it'd be useful to know if the reinstall solves it.

Additionally, remember to let us know if the same thing happens when you use the Web player or a different account.

We'll be on the lookout for your reply.

Hi @Novy,

I have just tried reinstalling Spotify. And it did not help fix this, it is still there on the app, and on the web player. I have set my settings back to what they were before and all, but it still isn't synced.

Appreciate the cooperation, @MikkelAE!

In this case it's worth checking on a different device with your account. If it's possible, try on a mobile device with the same song to see if the issue persists there as well. If it's happening on another device then this can be an account-related issue.

On another note it's also helpful if you could test with a friend's or a relative's account on the PC.

Keep us posted 🙂

Hi @Ivelina ,

I've just tried on my phone, and there's the same issue. I can try on my laptop on monday, since i will be using it there.

(This is three days after the initial reply)
I have just tried on my laptop, and the same issue is there.
But i just tried on someone else's PC with their account, and it worked it worked as it should on there.

Hi @MikkelAE,

Thank you very much for the troubleshooting. Can you try logging in with the other person's account on your devices and test if the behaviour persists? This will help us narrow down whether the issue stems from the account or the devices.

Keep us posted.

Hi @Joan ,

I am very sorry for the quite late responce, it just took longer than expected.

The person i asked, had forgotten their code, so i couldn't log on with their acount. But we tried to remove me from the premium subscribtion, and then add me again. I also tried to log out and back in but nothing worked.
Is there anything else i could do?

Hey @MikkelAE,

Thank you for keeping in contact.

Since you mentioned that it worked properly on a different PC with someone else's account, it's possible that the behavior might be account-related. However, we can still try other processes to see if it makes any difference. First, could you test this using a different Wi-Fi connection? If you don’t have another one available, you can use a mobile data hotspot to test it on.

We'd also recommend clearing any entries which contain Spotify from the host files on your computer. To do so, you can follow the instructions mentioned in this post (even if it's a different issue).

Lastly, would you mind checking on the Web Player to see if the behavior persists?

We’ll be on the lookout.

Hi @OscarDC,

On my PC, i use an eathernet cable, and not Wi-Fi. Therefore my pc doesn't show me any options for Wi-Fi when i look for it.
And i just tried the web player, and the issue was still there.
I also took a look at ''clearing any entries which contain Spotify from the host files on your computer.''. But when i tried, i think i got something wrong with it. There were some things that i just could not find.
So i dont know what to do now, that this isn't really working.

Thanks for the additional info @MikkelAE!

Just to make sure we cover all bases, would you mind trying a new account to see if the same thing happens there? This will help us determine if the issues you're experiencing could be related to your current account. You can sign up for a new account for free on this page.

Let us know how you get on!

Hi @Maria ,

When i click on the link to open a new account, it just takes me to the web player. And when i googled how to do it, it told me, that i would need to cancel my premium, and that my playlists and such, would not follow or something like that.
Am i doing something wrong? Or is there perhaps another way to do it without canceling premium and so on?

Sorry for the inconvenience,

Hey @MikkelAE,

Apologies for the confusion.

If you're already logged in your current account in the browser, the link above does indeed redirects you to the web player. To avoid this, simply open it in an incognito window. You don't need to cancel your subscription, note however that you'll need to use a different email for signing up.

If that's too much of a hassle for you, simply ask a friend or a family member to log in on your device instead.

Let us know how it goes.

Hi @MihailY ,

I have just done what you said, and it works on there. I hope this helps you find out what is going on.

Hi @MikkelAE,

Thanks for your replies and continued cooperation.

We've done some extensive testing and can conclude that this issue is in the lyrics of this specific song itself.

This is handled by the provider of the lyrics, in this case Musixmatch, so we've forwarded this info to them. In the meantime, we've discovered that the remastered version of the track doesn't have this issue, so we recommend using that version in the meantime.

Hope this clears things up. Let us know if there's anything else we can do for you.

Hi @Joan ,

Thank you all very much for helping with this issue.
It is great to see, that Musixmatch has been notified of this, and that a fix is hopefully on the way. But if they ever do fix this, i would be very happy to be notified about it on here.
Thank you all again for helping with this.
