Main Search Bar Issue: Windows 10

Solved!

Main Search Bar Issue: Windows 10

@Joan, I'm using Windows 10 Pro 22H2 x64

Spotify version: 1.2.45

Edit: BTW, search bar doesn't work, but I can still search by pressing CTRL+K. That works

I'm running 1.2.37.701, and there's a button saying that a new version is available: 1.2.71.421.

Then I Click to download, and the update i downloaded. I then Click to install, and Spotify starts again.

BUT IT KEEPS REPEATING - THE 1.2.71 VERSION NEVER GETS INSTALLED.

Hi @vonfanoee,

Thanks for your reply!

You seem to be running a quite old version, which is odd so we recommend performing a clean reinstall of the app to ensure any damaged cache is removed and to see if the latest version is installed this way. You can try doing that from the Windows Apps Store as mentioned in the guide and if the issue persists - from the Spotify site directly.

It might also be worth checking for any pending system updates and installing them to ensure that's not preventing you form updating the app. Another thing we recommend is making sure Spotify is allowed via the Firewall, as well as it's granted all permissions in any antivirus apps you might have installed.

Hope this helps.

OK, so I downloaded a fresh Spotify from Windows app store. When I try to log in, it says "Oups! Something went wrong. Try again, or go to Help."
Both when I try to log in using user name and email address.

OK, so I try to scan the barcode. My Spotify app opens on my phone, but it just shows three blinking dots. Forever.
Why must it be so difficult ..?

And now, apart from all the trouble stated in my first reply, I have downloaded the installer from the Spotify site. But ... when I launch it, it says "Spotify already installed. Do you want to open it?" If I say No, the installer exits. If I say Yes, the installer opens the failed installation from Windows App Store, where I can't log in.

Ok, so I uninstall it again, this time from the System / Apps section.

This time, the installer works, but - I still can't log in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Tidal is calling ...

And I can't pair the phone app to the desktop app.

And now - after a frustrating half hour - suddenly it sends an email with a code to use for logging in. And then it shows this web page:
127.0.0.1 - for some reason, and then I can open the Spotify app (because.
And the search works.
So - mission accomplished - but why should it be so hard ..?
