My Question or Issue
When select the option to show the miniplayer in the spotify desktop app, a window, which the miniplayer is supposed to show in, appears. But it just shows a black window with a faint spotify logo on the top middle of the window, with nothing else, no buttons, no song cover image showing. I also cannot select it to move it around my screen. This only happened after I updated my spotify app about a week ago. Anyone else experiencing the same issue? Any advice on how to resolve this issue?
Hi there, @user-removed,
Welcome to the Spotify Community!
Interesting. Let's start off with some troubleshooting:
I'd recommend trying out all steps form the Spotify Troubleshooting menu: you'll find it by clicking on the three dots menu at the top left corner > Help.
If the issue persists, it's worth editing your hosts file and removing any entries with Spotify you find in the address. There's a detailed guide on how to do that here, check it out. Also, make sure your Firewall/antivirus isn't blocking Spotify in any way. If you're using a VPN, I'd suggest disabling it as well.
Something else that comes to mind is checking if "Animate controls and elements within Windows" is toggled on. Here's how you can check that:
Lastly, if none of the above helps, try performing a clean reinstall of the app - this will rule out any issues with potentially corrupted cache and ensure you're running the latest version of Spotify. Feel free to also install the app from a different source: if you downloaded the app from our website, try the version from the Microsoft Store instead, and vice versa.
Hope this helps! Cheers 🤘
Hi @Yordan,
Thanks for your advice! But I'm afraid that the issue is still there... Even after I tried uninstalling and reinstalling spotify from the spotify website.
I'm going to wait and see if anyone else is expriencing the same issue.
@ed124
I am having the same issue and its incredibly frustrating. I havent found any solution but if you figure something out please lmk
Hey @hamoksha2001,
Thanks for joining the conversation.
Can you confirm if you've already gone through any of the troubleshooting steps that @Yordan mentioned above? Have you tried a clean reinstall of the app to see if that makes any difference?
If that doesn't do the trick, can you let us know the make, model, OS version and the Spotify version currently running on the affected device?
We'll be on the lookout for your reply.
Thanks for the information @hamoksha2001!
@user-removed could you also send us the exact Spotify-version that you're using?
Lastly, so we can take a look at this issue it would be very helpful if both of you could provide us with screen recordings showing the behavior. You could attach them via the Insert Video option in the post editor, or if the files are too big - upload them to Google Drive and share the link with us.
Appreciate the cooperation and we'll be on the lookout for your response.
Here is the requested screen recording google drive link:

Thank you for the continued follow up
Hey @hamoksha2001,
Thanks so much for your cooperation!
I was trying to look at the video you sent, but I'm getting an "access denied" screen. Would you mind updating the privacy settings so that we can watch the video from our end?
Keep us posted!
Thanks a lot, @hamoksha2001!
We've gone ahead and reported this to our internal teams. We'll make sure to let you know once we hear from them.
In the meantime, @user-removed please make sure to send over your Spotify version so that we can forward your report as well.
We'll be here.
Hi @Ivelina,
Thanks for the follow up, and sorry for the late reply. I have attached the screen recording requested to this link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1oJ9T9vo57-yrU4CGLFExuv3dPKXwV9P8/view?usp=sharing
And my version of spotify is 1.262.580.0, got it from the specs shown in app details.
Just FYI, I will probably delete the video from my google drive account after a while, if I need to make up space. I'll try to remember to not delete it for at least 30 days, so you have time to save and share it to the relevant people.
Hey folks,
Thanks for your patience while the teams looked into this!
We've received the update that the issue should now be fixed. Could you confirm if the Miniplayer is now showing properly for you?
We're here in the meantime if you need help with anything else 🙂
