New Last.Fm Scrobbler

New Last.Fm Scrobbler

This new Last.Fm integration loses a very basic function, scrobbling of local/synced files.  This is ridiculous.  According to Last.Fm forums it is the Spotify API that doesn't allow it.  Last.Fm is getting information because local/synced songs shows as "scrobbling now" so someone isn't totally truthful here as information is being passed through.....  ALSO, music that is not available to me (greyed out due to location) but I have on my local system WILL scrobble provided track information matches.  So it sounds like new system really only scrobbles what is in the Spotify library?

I understand the new method allows for scrobbling across all devices... but...

Please Spotify work with Last.Fm to bring back spotify/last.fm scrobbling to its most basic of form and scrobble ANYTHING I play through Spotify....

Or also offer the old per device option in additon to the cross platform version.

I don't think the Spotify API will support the tracking of local files anytime soon, because of the fact that they're local, and Spotify proably doesn't know the metadata of said local files. So don't keep your hopes up on this issue being fixed anytime soon, unfortunately.

Spotify/Last.fm do know something because when I play a local file, or a synced song on my phone the Last.Fm webite shows that song as "scrobbling now"...  So the data is there...

Spotify is a streaming service, and local files/libraries have always felt a bit neglected, but until Spotify has every song ever made including remixes and mashups there will always need to be local file solutions.
