No Music Plays - Requires a re-install each day

Solved!

No Music Plays - Requires a re-install each day

Plan: Free

Country: UK

Device: Windows PC

Operating System: Windows 10 Pro

My Question or Issue:

Since Tuesday (13/11/18), when I start Spotify (Spotify is configured not to start when Windows starts), no songs play. I double click a song or highlight a song and press the play button and the play button flashes once against the song and doesn't play.

The only way to fix this that I've found so far is to uninstall Spotify and then re-install it. Once this is done the issue will be resolved until the next day where I then have to once again uninstall and re-install Spotify again.

This leads me to believe that something is going awry within Spotify when I shut down the Windows PC at the end of the day (if I close and re-open Spotify after a re-install at the beginning of the day then the issue does not re-present itself).

I can't see any issues with my settings (as they haven't been changed between Monday and Tuesday) and can't find any other uses with this problem.

The Spotify Web Player appears to be working correctly, but switching to this does not suit my needs and should not be considered a solution.

Many thanks in advance for any help,

Dan

To provide a little more information, this "feels" like it's a caching-related issue following a re-start.

It seems to be that when I restart the PC the issue re-occurs.

I've discovered a workaround for this:

1. Shut down Spotify
2. Go to C:/Users/[your username]/AppData/Local/Spotify/Users and delete everything out of this folder
3. Restart Spotify

To get around this with minimal effort, create a .bat file and place this in the C:\Users\[your username]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup folder so it runs every time your machine starts up. The content of the .bat file should be as follows:

cd "C:\Users\[your username]\AppData\Local\Spotify\Users\[your Spotify username]-user"
del *.* /Q

Maybe the issue is to do with the Users folder having an issue upon shut down? I'd appreciate Spotify taking a look into this? Again, this only started happening from Tuesday the 13th and no issues were occurring on Monday the 12th.
