My Question or Issue
My windows desktop app won't play most/all music I try to play that isn't in a playlist. It's inconsistent but most time if I try to play the top songs for an artist, it doesn't give an error, it just won't play. SOME music not in playlist will play, but ALL music plays when I access it through the playlist pane.
If I add a song that doesn't play to one of my playlists, it suddenly will play.
I've restarted, done a clean reinstall, and logged in on a separate account and all the same issue. I've cleared my cache and moved the cache location to a new directory. The missing songs play fine when I use the web browser client.
I can't find any other toggle for the issue besides playlist/not playlist.
I haven't done any hardware changes to my PC and I don't run any firewall, and VPN is not running.
Thanks for the help
Hey @wuixnvidnvkjgnf,
Thanks for posting in the Community.
Could you try performing a clean reinstall of the app as described here and then try a different Spotify account? Did a different account work?
Also try switching the source of the Spotify app between the Microsoft Store one and the one from the Spotify site.
How did that go?
Keep us posted,
Cheers!
I have the same probleme any song can be played when is not inside a playlist ? So i need to create playlist and delete after that. I dont have this issue with chrome or android app only on desktop I have already followed all the uninstallation tutorials to start from a clean version but I don't have the problem. On the other computer I have the same problem on my dekstop version at home and at the office.
Hey @elikhopter,
Thanks for the reply.
Does the issue occur with a different account on the desktop app?
Let us know how that went,
Cheers!
I have already done a clean install and download from web site. I have also logged in with a separate account and it has the same issue. I also just uninstalled and re-installed from the microsoft store and still have the issue.
I got the same issue. It fixed temporarily yesterday after I let the windows update go through but it's broken today again after starting up the pc.
Hey folks,
Thanks for your replies in this thread and the info shared.
@wuixnvidnvkjgnf, did you notice if this is happening on another computer? It’d be awesome if you could check. You can ask for the computer of a relative or a friend to open your account and check.
On another note, in case there's an antivirus software or such that could be restricting access to the app, try whitelisting Spotify.
@soffeh, can you let us know the troubleshooting you've already tried? If you haven't yet, you can start off with the clean reinstall of the app on your computer. If you downloaded the app from our web page, try downloading the version from the Microsoft store, or vice versa. You can find out the steps to do it in this article.
Folks, would you mind sharing with us the exact Spotify version you have running on your devices?
Keep us in the loop!
I have
Spotify til Windows
1.1.98.691.gf759311c
and I've tried to delete everything, reinstall it, both with microsoft store and download it
browser works perfectly, phone works perfectly, desktop can't connect to either and will only play music on playlists; I'm paying you guys, could you not ruin the software please
Hi folks!
Just wanted to let you know that the right teams are aware of this issue and are currently investigating it. While we're unable to provide an exact timeline for a fix at this moment, it's recommended to keep the app up to date to ensure you're always running the latest version of Spotify.
We also have a separate thread about this here where we'll be posting updates as soon as we have any new info to share, so check it out and Subscribe to stay tuned. We'll now be closing this thread to keep the information in one place.
Cheers!
